Gender Studies or Environmental Sciences?

Gender Studies Or Environmental Sciences.? In which 70+ Scores are possible with little effort.???

fawadhash Monday, October 09, 2017 08:34 PM

I think it should be gender studies. Its scoring trend last year and this year is encouraging on top of having a very small syllabus.

Innocent Bird Monday, October 09, 2017 08:53 PM

Sir, I have learnt 3 chapters of E.S... so how much time will be required for GS? I have wasted Alot of time on ES because it is very tough...

Innocent Bird Monday, October 09, 2017 08:55 PM

Everyone is saying that ES is not scoring & papers are difficult...

I second, less time taking and good scoring. Easy to understand. Too some extent it is helpful in Essay, C/A, P/A, ISL, Pol Sc.

Alirazakh you are talking about Gender studies? Will u recommend some books in pdf format for it.??

It won't take much time. Its better to ditch ES for Gender studies. Gender studies will take a maximum of 1 week if you study is slowly and for first time and have collected all the required material. You can revise in probably 2-3 days easily like alirazakh said.

Innocent Bird Monday, October 09, 2017 09:10 PM

O.K Thank you so much...

Innocent Bird Monday, October 09, 2017 09:11 PM

Have you any book or material, notes in pdf format... I can't buy book again for it. Because books of CSS are not available here.

If you wanna save time and energy then buy ready-made material, any good book on CSS( G/S) in market which should be compiled from text books/research papers.

Reading original text books or other material (research papers, articles in Dawn etc) will provide you with deep insight at the cost of time and energies.

The choice remains with you.

Sir This file is not opening... what should I do.?

Zainab S Tuesday, October 10, 2017 12:40 AM

Sorry to barge in. I attempted GS this yr. Got marks in 70s. I would suggest not to take it. 2 years in a row it got great marks. It might get butchered next just like env sciences, or US history or IR.
Just keep that in mind.

Sorry. It might be an unpopular opinion.

You need Winrar software for that. After opening them extract files to your desired folder. Then use pdf reader to read them.

Last time GS was butchered as only few managed to score well in that. This time ES and IR are showing low scores. US history has average scores like every year. FPSC is unpredictable and no one can predict next year's scoring trend. FPSC will not stick to any trend. Better to choose subjects in which you have interest and have aptitude to tackle instead of scoring trends. I have analyzed that students who have crammed the material from same sources and reproduced as it is exam were failed. Answers written in own language and personal opinions were given more weightage.

Innocent Bird Tuesday, October 10, 2017 01:05 AM

Anum Zara But ES is technical subject we cannot write our own opinion in it... It is based on Convention & Protocol.

Zainab S Tuesday, October 10, 2017 01:05 AM

@Anum
Aapki baat sahi magar generally the more candidates opt a subject the higher the chances of it getting butchered. It happened with journalism, sociology, then IR, USA history and I think to some extent env sciences.
They do it to kill this whole "yeh scoring subject hai" thing. Makes sense. So many people are opting GS now so that's why I said ke kuch bhi ho sakta hai.

Khair, I shouldn't act like a know-it-all here. This was just my observation so I shared it. If you want to opt this subject then make sure you nail your side of the paper. Pass bhi tu kerte he hain log, abhi bhi IR mein kiya.

I second your opinion. I have already opted for Environmental and still I will go with envir.

ES is not technical subject. There is no need to cram. Just read the stuff from good sources and reproduce it in your own words in exams. Only two chapters have contents which require cramming to certain extent. Go with your interest and aptitude. Try to distinguish your paper from others to get good score.

I agree the more the students take a certain subject as optional the more will be the competition resulting in less scores for average papers. If I am not wrong, 312 has cleared written and I can bet that 150-250 will have IR as optional subject. They must have written something better and distinguished from others. Journalism and sociology had low scoring trend in past result as well. IR and US history are also medium scoring subjects and they were attempted by majority. So, undoubtedly extra efforts were required to score 60-75 marks. Average papers had no chance to fetch even average marks.
I have not shared my dmc here but as you have talked about nailing the subject so, let me tell you that I have scored 85 in GS in this attempt with just few hour preparation covering 20-30% of syllabus. After exams, I had switched GS with ES as my paper did not went that well. I am done preparing ES now and totally confuse about choosing subjects for upcoming proper attempt.

Zainab S Tuesday, October 10, 2017 02:00 AM

I wish I could be of any help there. ES se meri nahin banti tu cant say. Science waise ziada scoring hoti I think.

Actually science subjects are less scoring but not environmental science. It is not a science at all. I am going to take opinion of my seniors now.

I have myself opted E.S though many people are saying that E.S is wrong choice but I am confident I will pass this subject. and as the css result's trend also suggest that same subject is not scoring every year.

Great marks in gender studies and all other subjects except IR. IR has been really butchered this year.

As for gender, I hope it will not get butchered in near future like more established subjects. Gender studies is a relatively new subject and probably included into curriculum due to insistence of feminist or gender activists. The paper setter or checker would also be same activist. I hope that their aim would be to promote the subject as much as possible.
Rest, it is all an assumption. It might as well get butchered in coming year.

I just redownloaded it to see if its corrupted and it works fine for me. Sharing the folder instead of rar has chances of corruption that's why I didn't share it that way. Use "Direct download" when downloading from dropbox and use the following link to down "Winrar" software to open the Gender studies.rar.
