Default Gender studies or Geology?

Dear All,

I would like guidance with selection of one optional subject due to change in subject grouping. My optional subjects are as follows:

1. Accountancy & Auditing.
2. History of USA.
3. International Law.
4. Pashto.
5. Need to decide between Geology and Gender Studies..

Your timely input would be highly appreciated.

You cannot select Geology because according to rules candidate has to select either one subject of 200 marks or two subjects of 100 marks each from group 2. Therefore, for you, the only option left is Gender Studies. I will suggest you to go through syllabus of CSS again and chose wisely and not on the basis of only option left. If you are taking Accountancy and Auditing then why not go for subjects like Business Administration and Mercantile Law. There are many other options as well such as public administration and environmental sciences etc.

AoA,

Thanks you for your advice. I will go through the syllabus again and try to pick out a choice. At present Gender studies seems a viable option because i heard it as a scoring marks besides it being a relevant field in today's world.

My background is of ACCA hence picked accounting and auditing although the course is fairly extensive. I am not opting for business administration because its course is also extensive and would require more time. Can i opt for mercantile law in addition to international law?. if so that would make it easier for me to prepare.

Best Regards,

I have one more query, is there a single complete book for preparation of environmental sciences or gender studies?. I would appreciate your suggestion in this regard as well.

Regards,
Dear Waqar, before you finalize Int-Law, I would advise you to wait for CE-2019 result. You will be in a much better position to decide whether or not to go with Int-Law (it really gave us a tough time this year).
Coming to your last query, I don't know about envit-sci but as far as Gender Studies is concerned, there IS NO SINGLE book. Of course, there are notes-type books available in the market that 'cover' the syllabus but don't rely on those alone.

P.S: Do consider what I told you about I-Law.....and you cannot opt for both I-law and Mercantile law simultaneously.

No you can pick only 1 subject from law group. I second Khezar's opinion. Wait for result to decide about International Law. Criminology is also a good option for you in that group. I am not so sure about Mercantile Law score these days. It is better to wait for result to finalize.

Accounting and Auditing is indeed very lengthy. You can choose public administration if you do not want to take business administration. 20-30% topics are from MBA/BBA/B.Com/M.Com courses such as communication, motivation etc. Rest of the syllabus can be easily prepared at home as it is theoretical.

About single book for GS, sorry, you are required to read multiple books, publications etc to score well in this subject. About ES single book, ES by Imran Bashir published by JWT is best book. It is written according to syllabus. MCQ book is also available by same author. His book and past papers are enough to score well.

Dear members,

Thank you for your valuable input. I went through the Int. Law paper and found it quite challenging as asserted by members. On that note, i may have to change international law even though i attempted and scored well in CE-2015. I am considering to opt for public administration and environmental sciences. My optional would be as follows:
1. Accounting and auditing.
2. US history. (Majumdar)
3. Pashto. (Pohana)
4. Public administration. (Dr Sultan Khan's Book)
5. Environmental Sciences. (ES by Imran Bashir JWT Publishers)

I would appreciate if you could suggest better books (If any) for preparation.

Best Regards,
