Since the language was written in"devanagri"scriptfor quite some time around Dehli,it had been erroneously assumed that the first urdu poet was Ameer Khusro(1253-1325) from Deccan. The fact is many poets up in the North had already been writing in urdu poetry namely Kabir Das,Mira Bai,Guru Nank,Malik Muhammad jaisi and Abdul Rahim Khan-e-Khannan who lived much earlier than Ameer Khusro....
The writer of Drama "Over Coat"was Ghulam Abbas..
Urdu is a word of Turkish Language means"Lashkir"

Urdu

yes dear members,
Urdu is a Turkish word which has came with Turkish soldiers. There were soldiers, in Indian army, from different places and their languages were different too. The words of these different languages did formed and shaped a new language which was named "Urdu" and its meanings are a group of men or others whose aim is common.

Quli Qutub Shah (1565-1611) is the first notable poet of Urdu, like Chaucer is English.Ameer Khusro wrote only a few lines which are in 'Hindvi' so on that basis you can not say that he is the first poet of urdu language.
