In the same way as you improve your English. Read Urdu newspaper regularly and some good books of literature if you have interest for it. For handwriting ,practice urdu writing as much as you can. Try to speak pure Urdu with your fellows,it will not only enhance your vocabulary but also make you more familiar with Urdu. |

As Farah has said, to improve reading, u have to read, to improve writing u have to write and so on.. and while speaking, check urdu lughat constantly and frequently to check the correct pronunciation and meaning of the words u speak.. write extensively as it will improve both ur handwriting and writing.. try to read good authors only in the beginning. Farah has suggested u very rightly.. read digests, magazines, especially literary magazines that contain poetry, prose, articles etc all.. newspapers are also a good option.. digests, novels and magazines etc will not only improve ur urdu but will also inculcate in u a literary taste.. magazines and newspapers will also help in improving ur general knowledge and info about current affairs as well..
