Read Urdu newspaper regularly and some good books of literature if you have interest for it. For handwriting ,practice urdu writing as much as you can. Try to speak pure Urdu with your fellows,it will not only enhance your vocabulary but also make you more familiar with Urdu.

Farah has suggested u very rightly.. read digests, magazines, especially literary magazines that contain poetry, prose, articles etc all.. newspapers are also a good option.. digests, novels and magazines etc will not only improve ur urdu but will also inculcate in u a literary taste.. magazines and newspapers will also help in improving ur general knowledge and info about current affairs as well..
