I had opted for Zoology in CSS. For paper one you will have to go through all Phylums. Invertebrata constitutes Section A of Paper I and Phylum Chordata constitutes the Section B. I guess if you're opting for this subject means you've already been studying this subject. For Phylums and the rest of the syllabus of CSS for Zoology, Introduction to Zoology by Miller and Harley has it all. But this book is too extensive to be completed if you have started preparing it now for 2011 attempt.
There's a book of Zoology for all competitive examinations by Caravan Publishers available in the market. In my view, this book would be better to keep for CSS preparation as they have mentioned the pattern of possible questions as well as the years in which a particular question was asked in Zoology exams previously.

Best of luck.

Do you think you would be able to prepare yourself in Zoology with only intermediate (pre-medical) exposure to Zoology?

You have already gone through past papers; now you should identify the questions repeating most during the last 10 years and then cover the topics related to those repeated questions.

Only three months left in CE-2011 and it is not easy to cover all of those repeating questions; therefore, you should select those questions you think easy for you.

I think this is the best approach in such short span of time.

Regards

Miller and Harley covers ALL the syllabus of both the papers. In my view, you should go through that or Caravan's Book.

D. Robertis is a book ONLY about Cell Biology. How would you cover rest of the portions of the same paper?
Else, yes past papers would help you too.

Best of luck.
