Lightbulb Please suggest a dictionary for Zoology

Salam,

can you please suggest a good comprehensive dictionary for zoology. I have been using penguines' till FSC.

Phylum Protozoa has been classified in many traditional books as:

"Kingdom, Phylum, Subphylum, Superclass, Class, Order, Genus, Species"

However on basis of new work some recent writers have classified it as:

"Kingdom, Subkingdom, Phylum, Subphylum, Superclass, Class, Order, Genus, Species"

does mentioning of recent or previous work employ any impact over assesment of paper? (Like some are reporting previous work and others recent one).

Kindly comment.

Regards,

Yes you are right about the classification trends in old and new editions,i havnt used the penguin book you have mentioned.
But as far as I can remember its the systematic position of the recent editions that is acceptable
Phylum
sub phylum
super class
class
order
genus
species.

I dont have any zoology book with me right now ,actually i remember the classification of the Paramecium which is according to the books that i have used.

Phylum Protozoa
sub phylum Ciliophora
super class (dont remember)
class Ciliata
order Hymenostomatida
genus Paramecium
species. Caudatum

I have used The Caravan Books Principles of Chordates and Invertebrate Zoology By Khan Rafique.
Classification and taxonomy are one the toughest parts in Zoology and its time consuming when it comes to mastering these topics.
You can also use the Miller book its pdf version is in the zoology section.
There are some other books that i mentioned in the relevant thread that you can easily buy from market.
You can also search material from net, there are lot of sites that offer some great material and notes for each aspect of zoology.

You dont have to mentioned old or new style of classification in the paper, attempt the classification question only if you have full grip on the topic.

Regards.
