This is a very general topic and much information is available on internet. It involves all starting from DNA replication till protein synthesis.

Nucleic acids are of two types:
DNA - Deoxyribo nucleic acid
RNA - Ribose nucleic acid

1. DNA replicates
2. From DNA mRNA forms
3. mRNA is carried out of the nucleus and then in cytoplasm on ribosome translation process starts that involves messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA) and ribosomal RNA (rRNA)
4. mRNA gets there with ribosome and tRNA brings in the correct amino acids
5. From these placing in of correct amino acids protein chains get synthesized

Its the general picture of the role of nucleic acids in protein synthesis. Hope it will all be clear to you. You can find details anywhere on the internet and if you are unable to do that please do let me know i will help you.
