International Law (Resources and Preparation Tips for CE-2021)

Dear Forum Members,
I am a beginner in International Law.
After checking the suggested books as mentioned in the FPSC syllabus, I have a few queries regarding the books.
Which text book would you recommend to use as a primary resource for preparation?
I have bought the Introduction to International Law by Dr. H.O Agarwal. What are your reviews about this book?

Note that I found the Malcolm N Shaw book too lengthy and not available in hard copy.

Criticism on Agarwal book
1. It is old book even in chapter of State responsibility he mentioned that draft of State responsibility is not approved yet. While, draft of state responsibility is adopted by United Nations.
2. It is written according to Indian perspective. In this book, he has incarcerated Pakistan as an evil state. For example in chapter of War, he mentioned that Pak. Army is responsible for molestation of Bangali Woman while we denied these allegations.
3. Reference cases are not given in ample amount in this book. You have to read another for cases.

Positive Points of Agarwal

1. It is simple book even lay man can understand this book with basics of international system.
2. Headings are proper and material is organised in proper way so that reader can grasp the crux of it.

Shaw Book Criticism
1. It is lengthy book.
2. Wording are difficult for first time reader.
3. Reader cannot grasp the crux in first reading.

Shaw Book benefits

1. It is recommended book by Fpsc
2. It is depleted with hundreds of cases in each chapter.
3. Unlike Agarwal, it is written according international perspective. So you can understand International law without any bias.
4. It is complete conceptual book.

Now, It is your turn to critically analyse the criticism and favourism in my post and reach at conclusion.

Thank you for your criticism and valuable insights. I have decided to use Agarwal's book for basic concepts and then use Shaw's book for deep analysis later on.

I found similar reviews about S. K Kapoor's book.

How did it go? Were you able to attempt the paper with good marks?

Thanks for the notes, but I believe that we should go for hard work and make our own notes. I shall bug you if I am stuck somewhere.

Dear members, anyone attempted I. Law in 2020? I did not get even a single question from it, yet i have opted it for 2021. Please share your strategy for the paper.
