AoA to all forum members

i have done law except cpc i like all other subjects mentioned in LAW paper's syllabus for css exam and have not wholly but a little bit command over them. I really wanted to go for it but the confused about its scope from css point of view. i know its lengthy but is it considered scoring like so many other subjects as i,ve never heard or seen a lot of people opting law or having positive views about it.

so please all ,i,ll welcome your suggestions and views regarding my query.

You are quite right when you say that there are not many who choose general law (200 marks) as their optional subject.There are many reasons for this.Facts show that even the students with LLB try not to opt for it.In my humble opinion these are few reasons which deter the students from opting it.

1.It is considered as low scoring as compared to other subjects.
2. It has a lengthy course.
3.The course is equal to six papers of LLB.
4.The other law subjects have a short course,easily prepared and have a more scoring tendency.

So according to me you should skip this option, specially when you yourself say that you are not well prepared for it.I would suggest you to opt for two subjects from the Law group and devote time to them.You can choose from

1. Constitutional law
2. Muslim law and jurisprudence
3. International law
4.Mercantile law

Rest is upto you.

for CE 2014 i was about to opt muslim law and const.law as an optional due to scoring trend, but Peshawar High court anounced judcial posts, So i changed my approch towards general law, bcause 1 prep for two exams.
And i would strongly recomend the general law subjects to opt, for those law students, who wants to be civil judges or good lawyers.
Dont be afraid of lower marks if u have intrest in study the subject, and can present in a good expression.

The good thing about Law (200) is that you dont have to replete your paper with case laws and thus you are saved from the laborious task of cramming.

Questions are general and since the syllabus requires you to learn some important concepts, you are good to go even if you have only prepared questions from year 2000 onwards.

You can do selective study considering the paper pattern does not require you to be exceptiobally well in each and everythinh.

Since the substantive and procedural laws included require you to build your concepts, you are not likely to make a hotchpotch of everything and make new laws while sitting in examinational hall (like I do in mercantile).

The lesser competitors you have, the easier it is to impress the examiner and bag more marks. So here you have no competitors who have done CA, ACCA, B.Com, MBA, IR, Pol. Science, and other general aspirants.

The preparation helps you appear for judiciary exam.

Now a few demerits...

You have to take two exams at stretch and in the worst possible scenario, you dont get a holiday. Could get devastating for some.

The scoring trend is average ( not worse than Mercantile law and Muslim Law and Jurispudence).

I opted Law (200) because I cannot cram and criminal law specially interests me. I am pretty satisfied that I dropped Mercantile Law and Muslim Law at the right time.

i have interest so its going well from preparation point of view.
it is helpful in judiciary as well as Pms.
Its scoring trend is better than M.law and mercantile law.
