well, the term MENS REA is used to connote a GUILTY MIND.it deals with the intention, motive behind an act.
look,an offence is ussually made up of two ingredients i-e physical action + intention of doing that very act. Both ingredients should resonate with each other to establish an offence.now if the physical act is proved to be an intentional act.mens rea will stand proved, and the offence will be established.

you can simply say,the malifidity behind the physical act is mens rea.
ILLUSTRATION :

i dig a hole on a public pathway and cover it with bushes, with the very knowledge that mr A will pass through the path.my intention is that A will unknowingly fall in the dig and his death will be caused as a result. same happens. now as my intention behind the act was guilt,my intention was that of murderering mr A,and the act went acoording to my intentions, the mens rea behind the act will stand established and i could be convicted u/s 302.

contrastingly, if we take the same illustration and i dig a hole on public pathway, but here my intention is to trap a wild dog which cause annoyance to public on that very pathway, but accidently mr A comes before the dog,and hee falls in the hole trap and his death his caused instead of the dog. now in this case, the act of causing A's death was not intentional on my part, the guiltiness of mind wont be established, hence mens rea would be absent. i cant be convicted u/s 302 as there was no mens rea in this case :-)

Go for exhaustive commentries of each code.
I read:
Crpc: M mahmood
cpc: Amir raza
qso: M mahmood
ppc: Pld
torts: Ratanlal
contract: Pld commentry.

At least give a read to important topics from these books,it will give u plenty of material to write about.
Secondly, learn atleast one or 2 leading judgements for every topic, reference to judement gives u 5-10 extra marks.
Thirdly, each of these subjects have different schemes.of study, study them accordingly.
For example,
prepare ppc chapterwise, crpc topic wise, qso topicwise, cpc section+order wise, contratct topic wise, and torts chapterwise.
valuable suggestions ...... sir is it necessry to write exact definition provided in the books?

well, if the examiner asks any definition which has been provided in the definitions clause, you should try to write the exact definition provided in the clause, but in other cases you can do away with your own defs.

as about solving a question, you throw any question ill try to answer as per pattern

“The rules of evidence are generally the same in civil and criminal proceedings.” Comment and state if there are any exceptions to this rule.

Default Civil or Criminal Evidence

Dr. Jamal Abbassi Books are also very good and logical - the publisher is Majeed Book depot - If you study the books of Dr. Jamal Abbassi, it will clear your concept very well.
