@eima.
Muslim Personal Law is a subject which a commoner can get hold on it. But this year the paper contains some technical question, difficult for some candidates to have a grasp on those question.
It has been a scoring subject, one can get 60% and above marks in this subject.
Go and read thoroghly D.F Mulla book, though it is comprehensive, but it is a very athentic book. You must prepare notes from that book.
There is also book on Muslim Personal Law, which is published by dogar. It provides you the easiness while handling this subject.

You are abousolutely right but the question is to getting highest score not to understand the subject.i want to know how important are the case references in explanation of a question or is it better to anaylyse the things in narrative,expressive manner.

@eima
By understanding the subject will help you getting the high marks. Case references are important and it really adds variety and good impression as far as examiner is concerned. You can good high score by referring the cases, quotes etc. Do apply the expressive and descriptive way where needed.
