need help for philosphy as an optional
 

i m new on forum and also new aspirant of css..
em civil engineer by profession and on job as well...i want to appear in css-2016 and started my prep for that..i need guidence from senior who opted philosphy in their optional subjects..my one subject is geography and i m preparing it..please guide me can i apt philosphy? ...how is this subject as i have no background of it..how much time it required to prepare and please suggest any 2 book ( one for each paper) that is easy in language and will be understandable and can cover all aspects of philosphy syllabus and also fetch a good marks..and is it possibile to prepare philosphy wthout any guidence of teacher...?please urgent rply..anxiously waiting for it....
please also comment which one is best philosphy or psychology?

background is not required but interest matters. I think you should establish first whether you can carry philosophical concepts with you or not. All of your questions come afterwards. have a look at past papers and go through 'history of western philosophy' by Bertrand Russell, if you find it digestible, contact me, i will guide you through rough though enjoyable sea of philosophy
