Any one opting Anthropology?

Is there any fellow who has opted or wanna opt Anthropology? Secondly, can anyone elaborate should this subject be opted or not? What is the general view related to this subject in terms of availability of material, related branches etc.?

According to the study of Managing director of central superior services only 18/20 % aspirants opt anthropology hence it is quite non-popular.
Yeah one of my friend has opted it.

You can't extrapolate any view regarding new subjects.

See the availability of books, any teacher if you afford and considering your interest in that particular subject, just go for it.

Nobody can give a guess even what sort of subject it would be for C.E 2016. Yes, for C.E 2017 you will have lots of clues.

For any new subject adopt the above said strategy. There is nothing you can do more. Just go for the subjects, without wasting more time in selection of "new" subjects...

@ Hammad...Anthropology is entirely new subject. No body can give such remarks. Don't believe in rumors especially the academies are spreading.

Hmm! Dear Rameez! Should newly introduced subjects be tried or prior taken subjects be the priority? What's your view? Obviously, the availability of material, books, past papers etc, would be available for old subjects. What's your opinion in this matter?

Syllabus of old subjects is entirely changed as well. But at least the outline is very same. So, you know at least what are the boundary lines for old subjects.

For new subjects, of course the "newness" is the only positive factors which can lead to many favors. Otherwise if you fail to find books, material or good teachers. You are at complete loss.
So,if you are financially sound and are taking CSS as full-time job rather then part-time, then opt for new subject otherwise old subjects are better to be opted.
Plus if any of the new subject was your subject in Bachelors, Masters or Mphil. Then it's also a positive omen to select that one.

So General rule is

1. Availability of teacher or specialist in the subject (truly specialist not Government cadre specialist )
2. Availability of recommended books or notes based on those books
3. Availability of lots of time to search the relevant material

Or

It was your subject at any level of your higher studies.

Otherwise

Go for old ones.

I am contacting someone from Indian Civil services as well because I see some new subjects in their syllabus as well. I hope they will help in terms of some good books.

If someone can work on it. Then do it.

I've opted Anthropology. It is quite an interesting subject. hopefully i'll get good marks in this subject.
I've a book named: Cultural Anthropology by Conrad Philip Kottak.
Much syllabus is available in this book. it is of 72.5 MB otherwise i would definitely upload this book somewhere on internet.

@Geminie
First, the link for the above-mentioned book has been shared by another respected member.: http://www.cssforum.com.pk/css-optional-subjects/group-vii/anthropology/102802-anthropology-recommended-readings.html

Secondly, would you tell me the strategy to cover Anthropology or the related material that you have devised or collected till now.

Should be specific

FPSC outlined as "Anthropology" which is quite vague as it got branches down like cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology etc. I opted for it as seems interesting. Lets see how it goes.....
