Default Al Hajiz

This is brief intro of Al-Jahiz..

His full name was Abu Usman Umar bin behar and he was born in Basra. He learned Ilm-e Kalam from Isma Abu Sukhan etc. and he got mastery over manazira., he wrote a book on imamat. Mamoon patronized him. Then he became teacher of caliph Mutawakil’s child. He spend luxiourious life on the grant of caliph. He died in 835.

Contribution of Jahiz in Arabic literature.

Baghdad
He was chief of 2nd group of Abassids. He wrote a book on geography. He was fond of reading ancient literature and translated many books in Arabic.

Books
He wrote approximately 100 books, 30 of them are fully safe, whereas 20 are not available now. He wrote in both thoughts. I.e. real though and light mood. His few books are;
1. Al Haiwan
The book is about animals, religion, society, life, evolution & pregnancy etc.
2. Kitab Al Najl
He could not complete this book.
3. Al Bayyan Wa Taben
This was a great book on Arabic culture, language and society
4. Kitab Al Bukhla
This book discussed man and society
5. Kitab Al Usmania
In this book he defended first three caliphs and rejected shiaism.

Political and religion affiliation:

He was moatizillia by mazhadreligiously & was abbassid’s support politically

His art:

His mastery over new techniques & style was excellent. He emphasized on prose rather then poetry. He was an excellent letter & essay writer.

Criticism on him:

Critics critique him for going too far in exaggeration of the caliphs. He became a tool in the hand of caliphs like a vehicle of propaganda.

Conclusion

He was a great man but a person like him should not have become a tool in the hands of caliphs.

Hope u find it helpful..
