Cool Top 20 Qs (Exam Cram)

Hello Guys!

Can anyone post the Top 20 questions of the jehangir exam cram here? It would be a great help as I wont be able to get hold on it until Dec.

If not all 20 please add some 5 questions. It would be of great help.

Geography Paper 1

Q1-a) Define isolation and explain the relationship between insolation and air temperature in different regions of the world using isotherms. (Css 1997)
b) Explain how terrestrial heat balance is maintained? What is meant by latitudinal heat balance? (Css 1996)

Q.2:a) Discuss the landforms developed by glacial erosion and deposition.
b) What is glaciation? Describe landforms associated with glaciation at hilltops. (Css 2003)
c) Write a note on the cycle of erosion.

Q-3: a) Desccribe the landforms produced by river action in the plains and the geographical importance of flood plains of rivers in Pakistan. (Css 1992)
b) What are the external forces acting on the surface of the earth? Describe the landforms made by them.

Q-4 a) : Discuss the formation of landforms of wind erosion and deposition. (Css -1996)
b) Explain the ways in which each of the following desert landforms originate. (Css2000)

1) Mesa
2) Pedestal Rock
3) Barchan
4) Playa
5) Wadi

Q-5:a) Explain different types of mass wasting and the development of associated topographic features. (Css 1991)
b) Distinguish between rock weathering and erosion.Show how process of rock weathering in cool humid climate differs from those in hot arid regions? You may take examples from any part of the world. (Css-200)

Q-6: Summarise with specific examples classification of rocks and show how different modes of origin affect the exploitation of mineral wealth. (CSS 2000)

Q7 a) How are the earthquakes caused? Account for their occurrence in the young fold mountains. (Css 1992)
b) What is volcanicity? Discuss the formation ,types and global distribution of volcanoes. (Css 1995)

Q 8 a) Bring out relationship between atmospheric pressure , direction and intensity of winds. Give a schematic diagram to illustrate your answer. (Css 1994)
b) What are planetry winds? Discuss their main characteristics and account for their distribution. (Css 1998)

Q9 :a) Mention the different forms of precipitation. Discuss the basic causes of rainfall. (Css1992)
b) Condensation takes place when most air is cooled to or below its dew point temperature. Name forur types of condensation, two at ground level and two above ground level.For each type of condensation discuss conditions necessary for their formation. (Css 1999)
c) Discuss the characteristics of some typical air masses at the source region, their path of movement and associated weather.
d) What are different modes of the occurrence of rainfall? Point out areas of each one. (css 1995)

Q 10-a) Attempt classification of air masses and describe weather associated witrh warm and cold fronts.
b) What are Typhoons? How they are caused and what makes them different from the temperate depressions?
c)Give a detailed account of the origin ,life history, weather type and distribution of extra tropical or frontal cyclone.
d) Discuss the development and weather associated with different stages of the temperate cyclone.

Q.14:a) What are tides? Explain the tide generating forces and their effects on human life.

b) How are Tides caused? Describe various types of tides.

Q.15: Discuss the distribution of salinity in the open oceans and in partially enclosed areas, inland lakes and seas.

Q.16: Point out the differences between waves and currents. Enlist the main currents of Pacific Ocean and describe in particular the characteristics and path of Kuroshio Current.

Q.17: Describe the currents of Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean.

Q.18:a) Attempt a classification of map projection and write merits and demerits of Bonn’s and Mercator Projections.

b) What are aerial photographs? How are these different from topographical maps. Discuss their importance to map making.

Q.19: Differentiate between:
  1. Isopleth and Chloropleth maps.
  2. Bar Graph and Pie diagram.
  3. Cylindrical and Zenithal Projections.
  4. Orthomorphic and Equal area projections.

Q.20:a) Describe the internal structure of the Earth with special reference to earthquake shock waves.

b) What do you understand by plate theory? What has it to do with;
  1. Formation of mountains
  2. Earthquakes
  3. Volcanoes.

There are many chronogical events as far as Pakistan Affairs is concerned, these events itself bears importance when taking the important Questions into account.
There is a book authored by Basit Jasra and published by Carvan Publishers which contain 30Qs, it is a nice effort by a person who is currently serving as Deputy Auditor General in PAAS.
