Tips and Strategy for Geography in CSS exams
 

Here are some tips and strategies to handle your Geography paper in the mains exams for CSS. First heres how you should write your answers. You should first understand the question and only then attempt to answer it. The question could be discussion-based or analytical or you need to elaborate or elucidate. As a result you are needed to answer according what the question wants. Whatever the query is, you are required to give an orderly and logical presentation of information.

There should not be any contradiction within or between the answers. What the examiner is looking for in your answers is concept and how organized your thinking is.

* Thinking pattern is best reflected in the structure of an answer.
* There should not be any extreme views when you are debating an issue.
* There is no need to quote anyone.
* Answers should be well balanced. Every component of the question should be given equal weightage.
* The idea is that you might know about all topics but you should develop your own language to write them.

Focus should be on memorizing facts and then back up with your language. Your expression does not require you to write difficult English words. It should be as simple as possible.

Listed below are some of the main topics that should be covered. Since some sections come only on alternate years, please follow the trend and exclude a topic if it has been majorly covered in the previous year and choose another in the same category.

I need help regarding my optional subject i.e. geography. I need to know if it's scoring and easy for me to opt it. I've done telecom engg and that's why i've no idea about geography. Does anyone else think that the above listed topics are actually okay/good for covering of Geography (200 marks)? By pattern, it kinda looks easy. And as I've done bachelors in Software Engineering and I don't have any knowledge on Geography, can you guys please tell me if I should opt for this subject?

Every answer should be supported with a relevant diagram. Even in human geography paper diagrams seem to put a positive impact. Definitions should also be given where ever possible.

does the whole subject of geography revolves around diagrams or there are certain topics without diagrams?
if a person is weak in drawing diagrams he should opt it or not.

dear it depends upon your explanation, if you are weak in diagram than work hard on ideas and explanation,

In geography paper 1 all topics are supported with diagrams and are neccessary to elaborate the topic. In paper 2 though we don't always find diagrams available, but since human geography deals with the spatial relation of geography to different branches of natural and social sciences so making a diagram to elaborate your point of view would be considered a plus point.

And don't worry about your weak drawing. The examiner must be assured of our understanding of the topic, which can be done by diagrams. I suffered in geography because of less emphasis on diagrams. You should not do that.
