what the books i should study? without any solid background, can i go for it? plz comments are required?
For 2010 it took me around 1.5 months. I did not have a solid background in Geography apart from the fact that i had always been a Science Student. There are numerous books you can go through. Please go through the recommended ones. It can be a difficult subject if you are not prepared enough. In general one should go for it. And one more thing, this paper requires a mixture of both Rattafication and Developing an Understanding...so some topics are pure ratta while others require your deep thoughts etc |
Dear Umer,
Will you please like to tell me the names of some standard books that you consulted?? |
1- span of time required to complete sylbs?
2- what the books i should study? 3- without any solid background, can i go for it? plz comments are required?
aoa i would suggest you; 1- well it depends upon one's personal percieving capabilities.for quick learners two weeks to 20 days would do... 2- the books are; Geography 1. Cheng leong and iftihar's physical geography Geogrsaphy 2. business news, D.Blij and Fazal karim's human geography 3- no background is required.its a scroring subject and can be easily prepare without any prior study background Good luck |
i consulted philip lake physcial geography and jahangir series exam cram..sarfaraz bajwa is cool as well...for paper 2 i consulted mostly the internet ...

1.the time span geography will take depends upon your ability to understand concepts.it is easy for a science student to understand some concepts.on average it will take about 1-2 months.
2. the books that i consulted are Geography 1 : physical geography by deblij, understanding earth by press, seiver , physical geography by sarfaraz bajwa,World Atlas Geography 2 : human geography by deblij, economic geography by fazle karim khan, pakistan geography by fazle karim khan and jahangir exam cram. 3. surely,u can opt for geography without any background in geography.conditionally,if u have a solid background i would be easy for you to understand concepts.otherwise it can also drive u to think that you should have preferred for some other subject.i am telling you that because it happened with me.Although i am a science student with engineering background, yet because of weak cramming i thought once after january that i must have chosen other subject. But others have also opted it and they have prepared it easily.undoubtedly, it is a high scoring subject. But dont leave any topic on choice.2010 exam proved to be a nightmare for those who left some topics on choice. Finally, best of luck |
I myself used Sarfaraz Bajwa for Paper-I and Economic Geograpgy by Fazal Karim Khan alongwith Exam Cram series for Paper-II,its a bit technical subject and as Umar righly pointed out needs a mixture or cramming and developing concepts.....PS we had a hard time in Geographgy this time around...
