I am Electrical Engineer and im nw interested in PMS 2013 , My friend who is appearing in 2013 css exam told me to tick GEOGRAPHY as an opt subject ,
so as ur contributions r very valuable in this forum and ur also a lecturer of GEOGRAPHY so can u plz tell me that is it a subject to opt for if u have no idea about it , as i was doing a research in this forum there r a lot of diagrams in this subject , so is it necessary for every Q or is it just related to some topics . and where should i start studying at the basic level for this subject and what books do u refer with some explanation about certain areas to emphasize on about this subject .

As time is short so a quick reply will be appreciated .

@IndigoIdol as far as PMS is concerned,papers are totally from books both for paper 1 and 2, merely one or two question came from out of syllabus,( my experience of PMS).

for paper 1 (specially for non geo. background i refer Physical geography by Mian Muhammad Anwar for graduate classes,new edition).
yes its true in paper 1 no question is complete without diagram but don`t u worry they are so difficult, practice makes a man perfect.
i have already mentioned areas in the beginning of this post.

i have chosen following books for geography:
human grography by de blig,
physical geography by de blig
economic geography by fazal karem
pakistan geography by kureshy...

i have read many views about sarfaraz bajwa's book that is much easy and better than de blig's and also pak geography book by huma naz sethi is better than kureshy's..now i am confused whether i should exchange these books or start my preparation with current books...?..i need ur sincere guidance..

@hassanfaraz, well agar ap books le chuke ho to inko read karo bcoz apko just concept clear kerne han, waise bhi paper 2 ke lea books wala zamana to ab chala gya. but phir bhi concept clear karo apne inhi books ma sa then unko current issues ke sath relate karo like

geography of pakistan ma 1 topic ha `Power resources of pakistan` ap books se read karo k hamare power resources kon se han, then dekho k current issues kya han in power resources se related like water issue, mining issue in baluchistan and many more.

books change kerne se koi faraq nhi pare ga.mere khayal se per agar ap chao to dekh lo, bcoz paper to apne attempt kerna ha.

@waqasahmed difficult question ma khud abhi tak note down kerne ki try ker rahi hun but 2013 ke lea koi important issues he nhi mil rahe mujhe but i will try, jab mere list prepare ho jay ge INSHALLAH ma forum pe paste kr dun ge.

thanks for ur guidance...may sarfaraz bajwa ki book ka islye soch rha hun keun k apny aik thread may kaha hai k its ready made notes for beginners though poorly written...meny sarfaraz bajwa ki book abi nai daiki k vo papers 1 us se kitna cover hota hai...deblij ki book almost 80% cover karti hai lekin maps ka portion mujy dusri book say daikna parega...
