Smile Any One please guide.

hi.. I'm confused about the answer of the following question. that is

Q/- Describe the young fold mountain building process with the help of moving lithosphere plate theory?

Q/- Evolution of landscape of glaciation in the mid and high latitudes?

Thanks..

Q 1. The Strahler says

Compressional tectonic activity—squeezing together or crushing—acts at converging plate boundaries. The result is often an alpine mountain chain consisting of intensely deformed strata of marine origin. The strata are
tightly compressed into wave-like structures called folds. Accompanying the folding is a form of faulting in which slices of rock move over the underlying rock on fault surfaces with gentle inclination angles.
These are called overthrust faults. The individual rock slices, called thrust sheets, are carried many tens of kilometers over the underlying rock. In the European Alps, thrust sheets of this kind were named nappes (from the French word meaning “cover sheet” or “tablecloth”).

I guess the examiner is asking about glaciation & the landforms associated with glaciation in the highland areas. (the same question is in paper 2003) what do u say?

Umm.. okay but the folds theory is still not cleared to me.

Jab do landforms aik dusre se takrati hen hen, aik neechey chali jati he...Jo ooper wali hoti he wo ooper uthti he a bit. Iss neechey janey k amal ko "subduction" kehte hen..
Jb yeh nichey jati he to choonkey iss k ooper wala matter itna dense nahin hota (nichli layer k ooper wala matter) to yeh temperature and pressure se pighal jati he...Pighalne aur heat up hone k baad ye ooper rise karta he aur iss trah jo surface hoti he wo ooper ko uthti he aur iss trah "Paharh" ban jata he... Choonkey us k ooper landforms k milney se folds create hue hotey hen, yeh folds mazeed ooper uth k kehlate hen "Young Fold Mountain"...

Highland areas?

It may be Glaciation theory...The Ice-Age...Interglaciation period etc...

I don't know why they ask such questions...
How the sun causes the wetting of the land?
Why don't they ask, how precipitation takes place? instead.
