Well, though contradictory, the two still compensate each other in more ways than apparent. That clause "unless otherwise directed in the question paper" leaves ample space for speculation but the directions provided in the Syllabus do increase the probability of this year's pattern remaining the same as seen in the past!

Well, this is a serious matter and we need to confirm this. I also read css 2015 and 14 rules. It is clearly written in 2015 rules that "....arabic and persian should be answered in the respective languages unless otherwise directed in the question paper" while "english/urdu" is mentioned in 2014 rules. Few friends mentioned that there are translations which we have to translate from persian to english so there must not be any ambiguity regarding that because they have clearly written that "unless otherwise directed in question paper" but this is a big shock for me. I hope this is not true . Anyways thanks Mr Topper for informing us about this important development.
