Describe the criteria that can be used distinguish between “normal” and “abnormal” behavior. What are the different sources of information that you will recommend for clinical diagnosis? (2000)

This question actually addresses two different topics in clinical psychology:
1. Difference between abnormal and normal behavior
2. Sources of information for clinical diagnosis

The first one includes:
a) Deviation from statistical norms
b) Deviation from social norms
c) Maladaptiveness of behavior
d) Personal distress

For clinical diagnosis following source of information are usually utilized
a) Clinical interview
b) Tests
c) Observations
d) Informal assessment
e) Examination of life records

The models you referred to help explain the causes behind abnormality and DSM is a classification of various mental diseases.
