You don't need to have any kind of background for this subject if you have least bit of interest in it.

VU leactures are a nice collection of psych. but you need to consult a book by some foreign author if you want to score well and have a better understanding of the subject. The most recommended one is by Feldman. It covers both papers and a majorityof the MCQs, infact almost all the MCQs of past 3 to 4 years.

I have heard these Lectures and most of the topics are irrelevant. Course of VU is different as compared to FPSC.
You should consult Shehar Bano and Rakhshanda 1st inorder to get some idea about the course and go for foreign authors afterwards.

it has become a trend for aspirants to use VU notes for exam CSS preparation, guys mark my words that there is no such royal road to success that one can get away with quality book study by preparing through these notes..if you want to be succesful then you must have to study quality books for all your subjects and not just one rather 2 or 3 atleast so that you may be able to give a wider perspective to a question being asked..

Bilal you are right.
Lectures of VU are designed as per the syllabus of VU. One must consult the course outline provided by FPSC and preparation should be done accordingly.

Exclamation VU lectures are for VU exams !!

Dear VU lectures have obviously designed or planned according to their requirements. First of all you should check the course outline or syllabus given by FPSC. Get a recommended book or a popular psychology book like Feldman or any other you can get your hands on , cross check the syllabus with the topics in the book you chose. Only then you would know where you stand with the prep. You can make the same comparison of syllabus with VU notes and you will find out the differences.
Also you should always remember mere slides cant get you 20 marks, maybe get you through the objectives but subjective questions have their requirements and without fulfilling them you cant pass the subject let alone score.

Smile

I'll tell you the secret.

1. Stick to the syllabus.
2. Develop a habit of critical analysis.

This is enough I can tell you.

zarren bukhar(b.a) psychology + fieldman'book+some searches from net

or

zarren bukhari(b.a)psychology +saundra k.ciccarelli psychology +some searches from net (i loved that combination)

VU-notes are not good for css exept some topics. for example i prepared short note on "endocrine disorders" given in past paper 2003.
please avoid vu notes. some time critical questions are asked that can only be solved by matching standard books as i said above.
