It seems to me is most difficult question to answer. For last 3 to 4 days I have seen more then 350 DMC,s and amoungst these about 70 t0 75% have opted psychology. This much huge influx of aspirants in Psychology could prove disastrous in future.

yeah i strongly endorse his opinion, Indo Pak History gave less scores in 2010 and 2011, less number of people opted it, FPSC feared that it may become the lest chosen subject, this time average marks are 120 in IPH, so if all the people would be opting for a single subject, they can thrash you guys.....BUT you can't be sure of future, right now you have only one basis to decide on and that is last years trend...and they favor the psycho.....

Dear as per my analysis, Psychology has always been giving score in the range of 120-130, so we can assume that no matter what they decide to do with that subject, it will give us average marks which will be equal to Highest marks that can be scored in History or other such subject so i myself am going to opt it for my next attempt replacing Indo Pak HIstory.....I have strong feelings that it will remain scoring...let us keep fingers crossed and kick off the prep...

what if one opts for Philosophy instead of Psychology?

Philosophy is a very technical subject, you have to read a lot of Philosophers and to be honest with you, it is a herculean task to get the essence of the philosophy of a particular Philosopher without reading him thrice at least.....and its scoring trend is also a problem but i have strong feelings that if one has ample time, he can thrive in that subject....but Psychology is a subject of objective nature and gives excellent marks...

Bring it on in 2013. The disciples of Carl Jung and Eric Erikson shall not back down :pp.

Anyway, if you have studied the complete course in sufficient depth, I don't think it should be a problem.

I don't know what the philosophy course outline is, but it is a tricky subject. Plato, Aristotle , Nietzsche and other philosophers are hard to understand. Try reading them before opting for the subject, you would see where I am coming from. Psychology is a better option any given day.

Answers are scoring, not the subject. It has been habit of candidates that psychology is scoring, so they, even with no interest adopt it. One cannot score high even in mathematics, if answers are not right. Indo Pak History seemed to be less scoring, people prepared it well with extra care and answered efficiently, so they got good marks. If you want to score high, then choose only those you have interest in and don`t look at the scoring trend. Paper checkers are different and they will only award the answer which impresses them.
