For psychology
Along with sher bano's psy books its better to add book like understanding psychology by robert s Feldman
SOME IMP THINGS TO REMEMBER REGARDING PSYCHOLOGY..
1)stick to syllabus.........mentioned by FPSC
2)use diagrams where necessary..e.g brain,neuron
3)don't try to cram things just make good concepts e.g theories in psy 1
4) go for urdu version of sher bano's books....it helps a lot in making basic oncepts.
5)jahangir's 20 questions is also available,go for it too but (don't rely on it totally)i' am recommending this because such books become very handy in the absence of comprehensive book

paper 1
1- define and schools of thought + scope n recent trends(possible 1question)
2- structure n function of CNS and PNS+ endocrine system(compulsory 1 question)
3- motivation theories+emotion theories (possible 1 question)
4- psychoanalytical perspective of personality by freud+personality tests (possible 1 question)
5- learning and its type classical n operant conditioning+diff between classic and operant conditioning (possible 1 question)
6- short notes....homeostatis,group norms etc (possible 1 question)
7-social psychology(possible 1 question)
8-perception(possible 1 question)

paper 2
1- developmental phases + physical,cognitive,social n pre-natal development + Piaget's stage theory+e.erickson theory (possible 1 question)
2-abnormality(neurosis,psychosis,schezopherenia) (possible 1 question)
3- ways of defining abnormal behaviour (4 in no. distress, dysfunction, disability, violation of norms)
4- role of industrial psychology ( needs innovation) just memorize headings
5- job satisfaction factors (needs innovation) just memorize headings
6- intelligence theories+methods to measure intelligence (possible 1 question)
7-therapies ( possible 1 question)
8- short notes( possible 1 question)

sir can you tell us which chapters to cover from understanding psychology by robert s Feldman

usmanusman Thursday, March 14, 2013 08:23 PM

@zeeshi361

1-In my opinion you should cover the whole book as there are specific areas which i hav mentioned above and this book covers more or less all these aspects.Don't rely on one book,u can use combination of books as the real motive behind this is cover the syllabus mentioned by fpsc.
2-Pay special attension to smart studies by focussing on last 10-12years psychology papers that will give you an idea about the paper pattern and important areas.

best of luck

one book study

instead of going behind bundle of books , go and select one book.
instead of reading 10 books at one time it is far better to read one book 10 times.

Dont even think to go for paki writer's book like sherbano or rakshanda or 20-20 series.you cannot expect to solve papers by going through these books. these books will do nothing except weakening your concepts. you cant get clear cut idea about varying concepts of Psychology.

secondly these books are far away from the applications of psychology in everyday life.

regrading Feldman i am not satisfied with this book. covering the syllabus doesnt mean this book will make you understand the concepts.

opt sociology with Psychology if you want to bring variety in your papers.

there is no need of any kind of back ground

make a solid grip on flowcharts , represent ur paragraphs in the form of tables.

try to give answer in flow chart form.

this year papers were easy as such easy questions were never asked in the history.

but the issue was that questions were lengthy and the examiner asked complete chapter in question.
for this you have to repreent maximum at minimum place .

and only the best writer can make you do this.

Psychology is a matter of a few days if you people show your proper commitment and proper guidance.

regarding any other queries my mail is in my details.

In order to cover psychology, one need not rely on some specific topics and one book, as the Psychology papers of 2013 were two of the most unexpected papers.

Thorough but smart study is needed to cover the whole syllabus. Also consult Sheher Bano's book I & II.

Thanks

In my opinion Feldman's book is the best of all but this year Psychology paper showed that you cant rely on one book only. The best approach is to narrow down questions from past papers and then make your own detailed notes from 2,3 different sources (You can use internet).
