How to get remember poetry.

I am well in pashto reading and writing,but the only problem,which i face,is to remember the poetry.Since long,I have been reading the different aspects of the poetry of Khushal khan and Rehman baba,but the next day i forget it.What strategy should be follow to get the shair o shaairi remembered.Plz seniors,suggest the way.

I did it by writing the poetry! Am generally pretty good in memorizing Urdu couplets but when it came to Pashto, I use to forget the couplet the very next moment, so I started to write the poetry, all of it! And luckily when i remembered enough of poetry in exam to decorate the paper! Hope it work for you as well!
