Default How to learn pashto?

salam everyone,

I am new to this forum and have a question

I am originally from Afghanistan but live in Canada, and can only speak farsi (I can't read or write well), not pashto.
However, I am very interested in learning pashto, but I don't know how easy it is and how to learn it (I don't know where to find a book to learn, or do I need a teacher?).

The other thing is, I don't visit Afghanistan often, and most afghans speak farsi, so should I take the time to learn pashto? or maybe learn a language I will use more if I visit another country like french or arabic?

thank you

The best way to learn any language is to go where it is spoken. There you will be forced to learn it because you will need it. Question is why are you interested in pashto?

thank you for your reply sir.

I want to learn it so I feel closer to Afghanistan and it's culture, but I don't think I will need it as I mentioned before that I already speak dari which is very commonly spoken and understood in Afghanistan and that if I learn another language like french it would be more beneficial to me.

Thanks

Default Pashto

Pashto is even not a bad choice...its spoken by more than 15% in Pakistan too..In Afghanistan almost 60+% spoke Pashto as their native language...Yes Dari is like Urdu..easy to communicate to more

You're talking about Pushto idioms, okay?
