i would like to ask weather sociology a difficult suject for begginers.i have read few chapters including the teories,but the problem am facing is all was well as soon as i read it.but now when i open the book i find myself lost in a strange world.every thing appears to me new n most tragically i have forgotten whatever i studied....... plz help me.thanx.

to be very true, i faced the same problem so i closed my book,the categories in which the theories of various scientist fall are bit different in the two books i have,it is really confusing

well, i suggest new beginners to start with B.A sociology books... it helps alot in further understanding of this subject.
believe me its not that much hard.

following books can help begginers to learn more frequently:

Priciples of Sociology by Yousuf Ali Pathan.

An Introduction to Sociology by Javed Soonharo.

Sociology Of Social Problems by Alhaaj mohd.

no need to buy all ... just get one which is easily available to u.

Dear u r rightly guided by Amy...Sociology is not at all a dificult subj. Rather i would say its the most easiest and scoring one after Journalism...U seem to be a science student,may be tat's why u r facing difficulties...Just go through the whole sylllabus and read the theories at the end....Believe me its Halwa....Just try to relate the topics with the daily happenings of the society...and search for examples...u won't find it difficult at all.....

I recoomend the book suggested by amy...esp An Introduction to Sociology by Javed Soonharo.its most comprehensive and easy too!!!

If you have not studied sociology before , it would be a bit difficult for you but you can manage it with making notes on each paragraph you read.E.g if you are reading the chapter social institutions.First thing you need to note is what social institution is .The whole chapter will be based on it.Try to start with basic chapters.

Sociology was my optional subject in CSS-2006.i was awarded 73 score in it.
What my experience and study suggest is that it is not an uphill task to get good numbers in Sociology though it is of subjective nature. The method of studying Sociology is a bit different from other subjects.u don't have to remember points and theories by rot.Nooops.Never.it wud tell upon ur performance during the exam.but one has to internalize the regularities and designs of a society which Sociology is all about. When u surf through the pages of a sociology book, u try to learn and find ur position,standing and status in Society.Make ur self a reference model during ur studies.by this way u wud catch the spirit of sociology and wud go a long way in maturing ur subjective approach.
while attempting the questions of socilogy during the exam nevr try to pose urself different from others.that is to say nevr try to be an expert with scholarly inclinations.No...........! rather bring ur self to the lower levels of society with mature analysis.
ur stuff should neccessarily contain good number of examples from pakistani society(from all the four Provinces).Never be confined to a culture of a particular province rather all the four provinces of pakisatn should be in ur good analysis.This wud make the Checker beleiv that u are well aquainted with the culture of Pakistan,not Punjab or sindh only.

This is my approach towards Sociology.

well i have two books of sociology
sociology an introduction by SM shahid(its not the latest edition)
sociology by horton and Hunt (6th edition)

am i ok with these books?horton and hunt looks difficult,i cant dare to read it
