Social change is the change that is observed within the social institutions like family, economy, polity etc. Social change brings the social structural changes which are the transformation of the social institutions from one form to the other. It is an evolutionary process of societies just like a human being observes physical changes with time. Social changes are easy, while, social structural changes are difficult and may take decades for the process to happen. Social change mostly affects individuals at the unit level like marriages, migration to urban areas, divorce, selling or purchasing of lands, etc. so, it mostly changes individual’s interactions within the society and keeps changing the individual’s relation with the members of society. On the other hand, the social structural change affects everyone in society as it is the change in the structure of society. For instance, due to industrialization, people migrated from rural areas to urban areas which provided them new jobs other than related to agriculture. Also, it converted a combined family system into a nuclear family system. Moreover, feudal societies were transformed into industrial societies. Different sociologists believe that the study of social change, as well as social structural changes, is easier in open or large societies as compared to smaller or closed societies. Auguste Comte defined social change and social structural change into social dynamics and social statics.

Keeping the changes in consideration which are brought about by social change and social structural changes, policymakers should focus their attentions on the following three areas.

1. Unplanned urbanization
2. Population explosion
3. Modernization of society.
