social control--means
hello friends;
can anyone tell us what are the internal and external means of social control? kindly enlighten.. thanks |
I know two means of social control as studied in Criminology.
1- formal 2- Non-formal In formal mean, we include Police, courts, jails and other law enforcing agencies. In non-formal, we have family, school, social group, religion and culture. i think, here they mean by internal mean as non-formal and by external as formal means. |
thnx sociologist as always...
This question is from CSS year 2001. It seems pretty much like it..... As internal emanates from within us like norms, values, culture etc so it has to b the informal one. whereas external has to be imposed by an external agency and that includes laws, police , courts etc...so formal. thanks again.... |
any examples of both formal and informal with reference to Pakistan ?
|
Formal: Law enforcement agencies, disciplinary committees in schools, Jirga and Panchayat
Informal: Family values, cultural and religious values and all the unwritten rules of social behavior e.g. Yeh na kero please, acha nahi lagata! |
