What is Marx Theory of Labour

AoA,
I am a little confused on how to attempt this question, should we answer about the struggle between class of labour & owner or his labor theory of value, which I found on internet seems related more to economics. Can anybody help? Please its urgent

The Labor Theory
Karl Marx's labor theory of value asserts that the value of an object is solely a result of the labor expended to produce it. According to this theory, the more labor or labor time that goes into an object, the more it is worth. Marx defined value as "consumed labor time", and stated that "all goods, considered economically, are only the product of labor and cost nothing except labor".

Thanks Urooj. Your reply was very helpful as that question appeared in exam.:) But my confusion was that what an econonmic subject is doing in sociology, should not it have some concern with sociology?

thats because economy has effects on your social life. ..inflation is an economic term but it affects people so it is a social concern too...

marx theory of labour identifies that value is added to a product by human labour only and the employer does not appreciate this fact and he makes profit at the cost of labourer .. so it is a social concern ...and the reason why it keeps popping up in the paper everytime is probably ...u wont find this theory in books...i had horton and hunt ...one pakistani writer and one book of an indian writer ...but this theory was not available ....maybe many people don't attempt it so the examiner keeps on testing the candidates:P
