hi all
in my view if u wanna select economics as a subject, then plz plz dont study k k dewet and m l jhingan type books, as there are so many mistakes (rather blunders) in it. (these books are banned in international islamic university and qau). so my recommendation would be to study paul samuelson (best book for begginers). for the second paper i would advice two books.
1st is "issues in pakistan economy" by akbar ( i dont remember complete name of author) (oxford university press).
2nd is the latest economic survey which is downloadable from ministry of finance government of pakistan. i think its adress is www.mof.gov.pk

@newstudent
Please can you come up with some major blunders which you find in K.K. Dewet Book?

i am afraid i will not be able to do that. as book by jhingan and dewet are not here where i can pin point their blunders. i have studied them about five years ago. and i could not found them now. so now i dont exactly remeber what kind of mistakes they had done. but i was sure at that time that they did.
so sorry again

Economics isn't easy. If you have gone through the past papers, you may realize that some of them are quite tricky, especially the paper of Economics1 in 2008. However, one can surmount any challenge by hard work and perseverence. As regards the books that might help you prepare, I'd suggest the following: Microeconomic Theory by Gould and Ferguson; Macroeconomics by Dornbush and Fisher; and development economics by Todaro. Also try to read Financial Times and The Economist at least a couple of time a month; both offer good analysis of economic and political events.

Yes, he is right as far as Jhingin is concerned. But its not in all his books. I myself teach few topics from Jhighin, Like the dual gap analysis explained in jhigin be comapred with Thirlwar, more clarity is given by Jhinghin.
My personal suggestion is that Ahuja book, is with lesser mistakes and is much easier for new readers.
