1. Sleuth = a detective.
2. detention = the action of detaining someone or the state of being detained in official custody.
3. coalition = a temporary alliance for combined action, especially of political parties forming a government.
4. aftermath = the consequences or after-effects of a significant unpleasant event.
5. emphasized = give special importance or value to (something) in speaking or writing.
6. Envisaged = Foresee
7. demarche = a political step or initiative.
8. fretful = feeling or expressing distress or irritation.

1. Obscenely = in a sexually offensive, disgusting, or indecent manner
2. Opulent = ostentatiously costly and luxurious.
3. Rhetoric = language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect, but which is often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content.
4. tirade = a long, angry speech of criticism or accusation.
5. strike a chord (idiom) = to cause you to realize that something is connected to you in some way
6. Stance = the way in which someone stands, especially when deliberately adopted (as in cricket, golf, and other sports); a person's posture.
