Dawn Vocabulary
 
1. Defiance = open resistance; bold disobedience.
2. Simmer = (of water or food that is being heated) stay just below boiling point while bubbling gently.
3. Brewing = make (beer) by soaking, boiling, and fermentation.
4. Blatant = (of bad behaviour) done openly and unashamedly.
5. Beleaguered = put in a very difficult situation.
6. damning = (of a circumstance or piece of evidence) strongly suggesting guilt or error.
7. Throttle = a device controlling the flow of fuel or power to an engine.
8. patriotism = the quality of being patriotic; vigorous support for one's country.
9. Substantial = of considerable importance, size, or worth.
10. Rebuttal = an instance of rebutting evidence or an accusation. Counter-argument, countering, invalidation, negation,contradiction;
11. Fracas = a noisy disturbance or quarrel.
12. Fray = (of a fabric, rope, or cord) unravel or become worn at the edge, typically through constant rubbing.
13. Ramifications = a complex or unwelcome consequence of an action or event.
14. Portfolio = a large, thin, flat case for loose sheets of paper such as drawings or maps.
15. Credence = belief in or acceptance of something as true.
16. Incensed = very angry; enraged.
17. prudent = acting with or showing care and thought for the future.
18. Assert = state a fact or belief confidently and forcefully.

2. Heritage= property that is or may be inherited; an inheritance.
3. Patronage = the support given by a patron.
4. Seduction = the action of seducing someone.
5. Ramped = increase the level or amount of (something) sharply.
6. Troupe = group of dancers, actors, or other entertainers who tour to different venues.
7. Grins = smile broadly.
8. sanction = noun= a threatened penalty for disobeying a law or rule.
9. sanction = verb = official permission or approval for an action.
10. Reminiscent = tending to remind one of something.
11. Grotty = dusty
12. Disarray = panic
13. Lament = a passionate expression of grief or sorrow.
14. Suffocation = the state or process of dying from being deprived of air or unable to breathe.
15. derision = contemptuous ridicule or mockery.
16. Crasser = showing no intelligence or sensitivity.
17. Woo = try to gain the love of (a woman), especially with a view to marriage.
18. Relegate = assign an inferior rank or position to.

1. Embroiled = involve (someone) deeply in an argument, conflict, or difficult situation.
2. Hostility = hostile behaviour; unfriendliness or opposition.
3. Ethnic = relating to a population subgroup (within a larger or dominant national or cultural group) with a common national or cultural tradition.
4. Elite = a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.
5. Plagued = cause continual trouble or distress to.
6. mirage = an optical illusion caused by atmospheric conditions, especially the appearance of a sheet of water in a desert or on a hot road caused by the refraction of light from the sky by heated air.
7. Gullible = easily persuaded to believe something; credulous
8. Coarse = rough or harsh in texture
9. aptly = in a manner that is appropriate or suitable in the circumstances.
10. perpetuate = make (something) continue indefinitely.
11. Enclave = territory.
12. Crave= feel a powerful desire for (something).
13. Stymied = prevent or hinder the progress of.
14. Ineptitude = lack of skill or ability.

4. Tinge = colour slightly.
5. Remorse = deep regret or guilt for a wrong committed.

7. Provoke= stimulate or give rise to (a reaction or emotion, typically a strong or unwelcome one) in someone.
8. Carnage = the killing of a large number of people.
9. Solace = comfort or consolation in a time of great distress or sadness.
10. Lure= tempt (a person or animal) to do something or to go somewhere, especially by offering some form of reward.
11. Amnesty = an official pardon for people who have been convicted of political offences.
12. Smug = having or showing an excessive pride in oneself or one's achievements.
13. spectre = a ghost.
14. Murky = dark and gloomy, especially due to thick mist.
15. Prompt = (of an event or fact) cause or bring about (an action or feeling).
16. eulogized = praise highly in speech or writing.
17. Insurgents = a person fighting against a government or invading force; a rebel or revolutionary.
18. Hogwash = nonsense

context is important
 
dear, you are putting great efforts by posting important vocabulary from dawn newspaper, but i thing that it would not help anybody as all this is without context and is tantamount to pasting dictionary over here, so if context is provided , then it would be easy to remember them all.
you need to provide time and place the words are used in, then it would be quite meaningful for everybody.

Providing context with every word is difficult and time consuming. sentences with these words can be provided but it will make it more complicated. I think Giving a look to these word will build your vocabulary.

3. Myriad = a countless or extremely great number of people or things.
4. afflict = (of a problem or illness) cause pain or trouble to; affect adversely.
5. Consortium = an association, typically of several companies.
6. peasant = a poor smallholder or agricultural labourer of low social status
7. intrigue (verb)= arousing one's curiosity or interest; fascinating.
8. intrigue (noun)= the secret planning of something illicit or detrimental.
9. Wharf = a level quayside area to which a ship may be moored to load and unload.
10. embark = begin (a course of action).
