Heal Through Deal
Heal Through Deal
Religiously overdosed regime of General Zia was not different from the orthodox reigns of Emperor Auregzeb and Mulla Umer- after their death or fall- the terrible collapse of state institutions, breaking of legal suppression and peoples’ anger were witnessed. Extremism overshadows the idea of a welfare state because under such environment ‘Real life starts after death.’ Then why to create, develop and polish this mundane world which is ‘Temporary’. Romanticized dream of suicide bombing ensures a way towards heaven weakening their attachment, even, with their own people and land.
Pakistan is under attack from two sides- externally: by the Hindus, Jews, and Christians who conspire its lethal clash against US, and internally: by the violent extremist forces who strive to topple down the progressive (in their terms Unislamic) government.
Therefore Mushra- Benezir alliance, though serving their personal ends, may serve well to the national interest. This is high time for moderate groups to join hands to counter the growing menace of bloodshed.
Firstly, Army has taken up the task with responsibility, any big loss will go to their account, but now Pak Army needs political support. In future, establishment could not transfer any failure to the civilian government, as is debated in the case of ‘Kargil.’ Secondly, media has generated refreshing atmosphere of enlightment by the constructive views of authentic religious and social scholars. The today’s Pkaistani masses are better conscious of the difference between spiritual contentment and savage bloodshed. Majority of Pakistanis demand socio-economic and judicial relief instead of sectarian debates. Thirdly, Benezir as a true heir of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, could continue his policy of enlightment- as the poor soul was ahead of time. Fourthly, fast globalization in all economic, cultural and educational fields demands to align with the flow of world- the status quo since independence has earned low ranking among the comity of nations.
Finally, we are in a phase of transition, decisive moments, and defining future: either to opt for progress or to remain obsessed with extremism. Mushraf-Benzir deal, irrespective their mutual benefits, will strengthen the fighting hands against militancy.
