w8in 4 rply title: Nature of Art, Quality of Art, Passion of Art precis: In this passage, the writer discusses different perspectives about poetry, an art, responsible for energizing our emotions resulting in unsettlement of our peaceful life. Tolstoi describes source of infection is quality of art whereas Plato portrays it as increasing our feelings to suffer with loss so aesthetic sense is a different mental state, packed with energies of passion; however passion alters its nature and meaning. Wordsworth explains poetry, recalling emotion in calm state. But writer feels that great poetry isn’t concerning remembrance of past but recent emotions that takes a new path. He says our passions are clear that are felt immediately. Shakespeare never used aesthetic theory except once. His plays don’t infect us with passion but involve us into the scene. So his theory of art goes with concepts of great artists of fine arts. |
