Hey,

So the thing with a subject like IR is that there is no one right answer, it has a lot to do with the theoretical perspective one empasizes. And there are many different Ir theorists each with a specific way of looking at each concept especially power.

You have the very famous theory by Lukes who treats power as having 3 faces; agenda setting etc.
Now this question used the word national power so I'm guessing here one had to talk about how states acquire power relative to other states. In that context surely hanna you answered correctly.

But as I pointed out above there could have been different ways of looking at national power, you could have talked about the transnational influence of big corporations and how they are a form of neo imperialism, a source of national power.

Surely time will tell how the examiner wanted this question interpreted. But I'd like to put it out there that perhaps questions shouldn't be phrased using terminology such as the basic ingrediants because every Ir theorist and theory has given its version of what power is. Just my two cents.

Regards,

Yes economics contribute and finance the acquisition of national power. The subject itself has a subjective nature, and one can address the dynamics of international society in as many ways as the diversity of one's knowledge. What matters is the art of making your argument relevant in a unanimous way.

Yes we already realize this. We let such comments stay only for a week or two.

Default implication of pakistans paticipation in saudi led coalition

  1. political importance
  2. plus points
  3. the saudi led military alliance of 34 countries will bring together partners politically
  4. here coalition partners able to sort out all political tensions, rivalries hostilities that had been disturbing peace not only in middle east but also globally for example political tussles between iraq iran and recent political tension between syria and saudia arabia
  5. hence if negotiations may take place in oic then actual development will likely to take place through military coalition to solve regional issues like terrorism
  6. hence through poltical consensus a proper development of military coordination will take place
  7. this will maintain balance of power and bind all the coalition partners under one political motto that will pursue it through foray
  8. hence this will ensure peace
  9. negative points
  10. it will take time for coalition partners to develop proper co ordination
  11. this co ordination can be disturbed if politically there hadnot been set a proper code of conduct that will be implied strictly to all co alition partners
  12. it is though saudi led coalition but if only one will call shots all the time then a deuce to pay
  13. which can disturb the balance of power hence can enable the non state actors to pursue their agenda at the expense of non muslim states
  14. the recent houthis uprisings and isis terror are redeeming examples which are product of proxy wars
  15. in such way dog eat dog situation can develop so coalition partners can become contention ones
  16. socio cultural importance
  17. plus points
1 the dos and donts of member state will dot es and is.
2 hence if military coaltion forms successfully then it will not only enable to understand the militarity culture among the member states socially culturally but also will impact on socio cultural enviornment of states likewise
3 hence every partner will develop friendly cordial relation
4 but will also unite the muslim nation under the true spirit of islamic code of conduct
5 once the misconceptions about each other will remove the abolishment of contradiction in terms will remain a formality
    Negative points
1 middle east is caught up in shia sunni conflict that is part and parcel of each muslim country
2 this confict brought iran iraq wars and served as agenda of non muslims state national intrests through proxy wars.
this brought all muslims states away from each other
3 Basically germinated from sectarian intolerance.violence brought bloodshed of shias sunni in pakistan saudi arabia and many other
4 so if such coaltion will pursue such agenda motto that is biased and likely to favour few states wether economically militarity religiously that it will effect on socio cultural relation.
5 in this way coaltion partners may join counter alliances while being the member of coaltion of saudi led.or they may abandon it or become fifth column or will cahoot against each other
6 in this way like oic this 34 states coaltion will be in effective

Here in discussions friends interpreted different version of question, that put me in doubt about my own question?...
Please comment on my descriptive but with logical and technical elaboration.
I stated my answer with this.
If somebody wants to see the importance of national power than see the American model such as federated unit but with unanimous spirit of patriotism.Than have a look on Former national states such as USSR, Chechkoslovakia, and Yugoslavia.
These states were supposed to be strongest and worlds super power.(I explained their characertistics feature which united different ethnolinguistic regions such as Serbia,Kosovo and Herzegovina in Yugo)
Importance in terms of contemporary world:greatly reduced by liberal economy and globalization such as In Africa, where from food to state sovereignty is privatized( remember opposite of national power is privatization), such as blue helmet in conflict areas.
Consequesces
if national power is compromised than
1.Loss of sovereignty (Libya as a case study)
2.invitation of non state actors(Drug and klashankof culture in Pakistan)
3.separatist movement(Iraq,Syria and Balochistan)
4.Deterritorialization(Dhaka debacle of east Pakistan)
5.Economic dishormony(Greece crisis)
I hope positive, rational and technical criticism would be out there.

I don't know mjhe examiner pass kre ga ya nhy, but believe me this outline is so hackeneyed and too cliche that even I dont bother to read this story fully.
My best suggestion to you is read articles and watch out the latest trend in middle east like a sensationalist story.
My question started with Khurhshid Qassoris quote.
"Before advancing to 34antiterrorism state alliance, Pakistan must not forget its soft geopolitical and demographic vectors such as worlds 2nd largest shia as well as Sunni state, in addition to sharing its border with Iran not KSA."
