For the rest of the things, internet comes in handy. The fourth section especially (cyber crime, gender crime, human rights etc.) is all current affairs and general knowledge.

It should not be very difficult to prepare, if you are interested.

By the way, watching crime thrillers can help you ace the criminal investigation method really well. Your call.
Yeah please.. if i find it good enough i'll buy it, its hard to study in soft form for me.. therefore was trying to get 1-2 good books, recommended by those who have appeared this time, that i could buy.. if not, i will search the material and get them printed (the only problem here is that i don't know how to use my printer) 😀

I agree it's difficult to study from softcopy material.
As a solution, In the first step, I gathered all relevant material from online/offline (mostly online) sources. In the next step, I made handwritten notes and never opened the online versions again.

See what suits you best. For the 2016 exam, there weren't many quality hardcopy books in the market, so many had to resort to internet. But I do find that if you have the skills of searching great material online, you can have a bit of competitive advantage. Because most aspirants will stick to material available in the market.

Try searching course notes for criminology from foreign universities (and Punjab University). Helps.

Does anyone know answer to question no 6.
Enlist and discuss the principles of criminal investigation.

there are some ethical guidelines, which an investigator has to follow

unprejudiced and impartial attitude, avoidance of inaccurate conclusions, team work, and searching suspects within legal limitations.

there are principles which must be applied to all criminal investigation procedures. whether crime is personal crime or property crime(two broad categories of crime)

1)to identify the crime
2)to identify the offender
3)To apprehend the offender
4)to interrogate the suspects
5) corpus deliciti of crime
6)gather and preserve evidence I.e finger prints, foot prints etc
7)modus operandi of criminal
8)to provide aid in prosecution and conviction of perpetrator
9) to recover property

ironically, some brethren and sisthren on the forum have write Sherlock Holmes techniques of investigation, which is wrong approach.

ahh I see. Thanks Qublai Khan. I was having a tough time googling it.
I have one more question regarding this. I checked principles and in addition to the ethics principles it seems that there are few principles (I am still searching) for specific steps. For instance there is a Locard exchange principle for crime scene investigation. I am sure there will be more for every step like evidence preservation and victim interview or any other step. I just don't know others besides ethics and Locard's. What do you think about that?

Off the topic: I read "The guide" by R.K.Narayan as per your suggestion and it was incredible. You were right. I finished it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. Thank you for that suggestion. You have great taste.

locard exchange principle,“every contact leaves a trace".
I think this principle is only applicable to crimes like theft, robbery, burglary etc and in some instances in murder but I don't think that this principle can be applied to cases related to fraudulent checks, cyb:er crime and many other violent crimes such arson and narcotics.
it is the technique for crime scene investigation only, while investigation encompasses many stages I.e interview and prosecution

and thanks for the complements

So should I mention this in the answer of this question or not?

-No problem.

I think one should not make his/her answers complex by barely relevant articles.no one knows that on which capacity examiner is going to mark the paper.

True. Nah you are right. I got a chance to explore it further and this doesn't come under principles.
Thanks
