Paper was more critical and contemporary unlike previous papers which were more easy to handle and orthodox.

I think this was most easy International Law Paper. I opted this subject for the first time, and only studied on last day. Although i had holiday, but i wasted most of the time then actual study.

If u cant do Q1&2, there is no point studying IL. Even me with 8 hours prep did these 2 Questions. Because u start with "Whether IL is True Law", and Sources of Law is plainly asked in Syllabus.

I covered 70% syllabus in 2 hours (outside exam hall), using a very nice book that has outline of each topic. Got the talking points of Q5 from there. Q4 was nice and easy, didnt requires much of I law.

Q6 is bit ratta, i didnt studied this so i did;t knew anything on this topic
Q7 is plain analysis, u just need to know meaning of Montevideo, which i didnt. But one should expect such ignorance from few hours study.



I didnt do Q8, but i could have satisfactorily done collective use of focr and relation of state with individual.



This paper was a peace of cake for anyone with good knowledge, analytical skills, and 1-2 days of INternational Law study.

Which book u referred for fast study of Int Law?

To be honest Im quiet jealous of Mr. Ali's ability. Covering IL in 8 hours, which is by far one of the most technical theoriticsl subjects in the syllabus, what with all the treaties, their inherent elements, principles, historical foundations. One should not assume that mere analytical skills and prowess can make one take IL's exam very easily, even the most mundane sounding questions, like sources of IL which may in one's consideration amount to something like precedents, have very technical and historical facts behind it. Good for Ali to have aced this exam in 8 hours' prep, but I doubt the same will work for any, I repeat any one else.

I want suggestions from seniors that if i select IR then is it good and easy to select IL (International Law) with its combination.

Yes. The paper may have been easy compared to previous years, yet to think that one could attempt questions pertaining to IL by having a generalist take in answers is tantamount to committing a mistake. One requires thorough study of book(s) to plug in examples of IL in answers to questions which have a generalist look yet at the end of the day are IL questions. Just because the questions didnt ask for specific decrees or meanings of clauses in IL and instead look like any IR or Current Affairs question doesnt mean they were actually. Thinking that the papers were easy due to above reasoning is a fallacy. Peace out!

The paper was very easy and general. If you look at the previous papers it has cases; if you knew you could attempt them if not you couldn't attempt them. Oxymoronic law i didn't know the word's meaning but i was pretty sure what they are asking. I didn't opt it because i had choice in other questions. Paper was very doable with little study.

Shah 786; It's a perfect combination. Both subjects overlap in many ways. Go for it.
