[B]Note:[/B] Attempt FIVE questions in all, including Question 8, which is compulsory. All questions carry equal marks. Illustrate your answers with diagrams and sketches wherever necessary.

1. Condensation takes place when moist air is cooled to, or below its dew point temperature.
(a) Name four types of condensation, two at ground level, and two above ground level.
(b) For each type of condensation named in (a) discuss the conditions that are necessary for its formation.

2. What are typhoons? How are they caused and what makes them different from the temperature depressions?

3. What is a Desert Climate? Briefly state the different types of desert found on the surface of the earth.

4. Describe the various theories of crustal structure and movement.

5. What are the external forces acting on the earth’s surface and what are their resultant features?

6. What are ocean currents? Discuss the factors, which may account for their occurrence and also describe their effect on the surrounding regions.

7. Write short notes on the following:
(a) Planetary winds.
(b) Glacial Topography
(c) Cycle of Erosion
(d) Inversion of Temperature.

1. Explain the two important terms used in Human Geography i.e.
(i) Environmentalism (ii) Possibilism
Discuss in some detail the interrelation between man and his environment.

2. Describe and give reasons for the pattern of the distribution of population in the world.

3. “The population of cities in urban settlements in the world is rapidly increasing and by about A.D. 2000 about 40% of people will live in cities.” Write a detailed note on the good and bad aspects of this state of affair.

4. “The location and oil reserves of the ‘Middle East’ are responsible for its unstable conditions.” Discuss.

5. Describe the main energy and power resources of South Asia with special reference to Pakistan, explaining their importance for the growth of industry in the region.

6. Write an essay on the important cash crops of South Asia and their importance for the economy and industry of the region.

7. Write short notes on the following:
(a) World’s religions.
(b) Importance of Forests, their classification and World’s distribution.
(c) ‘Rice producing areas are thickly populated.’
(d) Means of transportation in Pakistan with special reference to the role of Motor Way in the urban and economic development of Pakistan.
