ARABIC, PAPER I


Note: Attempt Five questions. Question 6 and 7 are COMPULSORY. All questions carry equal marks.

Q-1 AN Naqd-al-Adabi. Explain the given phrase and identity as to what were the standards or principles laid down by the Arab critics during the reign of Abbasids.

Q-2 what do you know about Al-Beruni and his work? Discuss briefly.

Q-3 Write a note on Quran, its miracles, language and influence on Arabic literature.

Q-4 Write a comprehensive note on the origin and development of Modern Arabic literature. Do you think that it was influenced by the rest?

Q-5 Define Adab-ul-Mahjar and elaborate the main characteristics with special reference to Jabran Khalil Jabran.

(Q-6 and Q7 Compulsory Questions which include Arabic text)

Q-2 Translate the following poetic verses into English or urdu with reference to the context. * (20)

Q-3 Write a comprehensive note on life and literary works of Abbas Mehmood-al-Uqqab.

Q-4 Write a note on life and literary works of Dr. Taha Hussain.

Q-5 Write a comprehensive note on the life of Taufiq-al-Hakeem and his contribution in literature of Drama.

Can you please direct us as to what the directions of the arabic questions were? and if possible, mention the poets whose poems were asked to be translated. I would really appreciate it.

In paper B tranlsations by Imrul-qais and Zuhair Abi Sulma were asked...
