Scholars have said 'Bakkah' refers to the Kaaba and the sacred site immediately surrounding it, while 'Mecca' is the name of the city in which they are both located. The word 'Bakkah' is actually mentioned in chapter 3 (Surah Al Imran), ayah 96 of the Quran. It says it is very location of the first place of worship to the One God (Allah)

Yes, it seems to be the case. On top of that, I feel like the questions are designed to probe your religious beliefs, opinions and mindset.

I wonder if the examiner even knows what the "right" answer should be, or if it is up to the candidate to convince the examiner that what he is saying is the "right" answer.
Wasn't the Q8 about the secondary sources of shariah like ijtihad (applying reasoning to drive from the primary sources i.e Revelation), which can be applied to solve the present day emerging problems like suicide attacks, use of force, cloning ? Since the rest of the problems were same before 1400 years as they are now.
but i solved it in accordance with the essence of the precis of 2014; intellect alone can not solve our problems. moreover, i wrote that intellect would leave issues ,related to metaphysics, untouched. I cocluded, neither intellect nor revealation can solve our problems alone;there has to be the combination of both.
