Précis
"Man's species is called Homo Sapien but many anthropologists calling it Homo Faber-the smith. The writer proposes the name Homo Loquax- the talker: the distinguishing feature between man and beasts. As man without language is called Yahoos: tempted, frustrated animal despite not controlled by instinct only, in Gulliver's Travels. Through language man learn, share, express spiritual thoughts, form law and ethics and it set man in civilized community. Remarks??? |

Language has played a vital role in the development of human civilization. With the help of language we became able to learn values and norms which placate us, and restrain us from profligate behavior. Had men not been talkative, we would have been worse than animals. Mere Intelligence is not sufficient to keep human beings at bay from inhuman acts. It must be accompanied by language which abridges humans.
