Dear Fellows,

The paper doesn't seem much difficult to me. Give me your views about it!

Had I been eligible this year, I am sure I would have passed this one with a good lead.

Adil Memon Sunday, August 07, 2005 11:17 PM

Thanks for the reply...

Dear Brother Shoaib,

Thanks for taking pain to comment. Well it was just an assessment for the examination paper.

Well, since I can't appear before 2007 so ultimately I will continue it. And, thankyou so much for admiring it!

I look forward for the new syllabus and I will fight till the bitter end.

its not that simple

Nepolean thought its easy to conquer Russia but he was wrong
its alright that paper was easy but don't tell me that u can clear it merely on the pretext that it was easy
go ahead ... adil

Adil Memon Monday, August 08, 2005 08:15 PM

Ridiculous!

Dear Kakasepahee,

Thanks for telling me that Nepolean could not conquer Russia.

Well, i'm not conquering a sovereign Independent State here. I opine that I could do the exam since i'm familiar with the topics!

Your remarks seem to be a clear strike at my intellectuality. Is that really so?

Essay 2005

AoA

the papers are still in the way, in my case i have to take Botany (200) on 17 and Agri (100) on 20th of this month.

Essay paper looked a bit fine but the worst was to follow, though I cant say it worst but to term it at least worse is reasonable. As there were changes in the pattern. The Every day science was dificuilt and Pakistan Affairs & Islamiyat were too not easy.

Any how, inshalah i would b telling the details of other papers once my papers are completed.

For Essay, i wrote Islam Vs the West, due to my writting style i took 3 extra sheets, however, the material could have been covered with one extra sheet easily. Actually i wasted my time in making outline, perhaps the outline consisted of 5-6 pages, hai naa ajeeb baat ! After paper i thought sainly that what i have done, but it was okay.

I started from beginning of islam and took it to modern world step by step. Any how, it wholy depends on the examiner, what he considers about my paper and what he gives out.

Actually one can easily write on Strategies for alleviation of poverty; Socio-economic challenges faced by Pakistan ; Reforms in examination system; Persecuted poor women; The search for truth; and Islam versus the West but one must think to write on essay which very less number of candidates would have choosen and i thought same for the mine. In my examination hall, i asked from 20-40 people and none of them had gone for it.

Any how, inshallah would writing more after examinations are over.

Take care and haan i need a lot of prayers, plz pray for the sucess as the paper of yesterday (Forestry) was the worst .

Thanks For Ur Sharing But I Would Not Prefer An Experimnt In Css Papers Especially Essay Paper. Every One Has His Own Style And Points Whn There Is An Esy Choice Thn Why One Should Opt An Odd One .this Is Not Critisism Rather I Appreciate U. Bby Best Of Luck

Adil Memon Monday, August 15, 2005 11:33 AM

Salaam!

Dear Shoaib Bhai,

Actually its a general conception that making an exception (writing on something, that others don't) results into a better marking.

However I personally agree with you. If I can't express something different properly I would better prefer the one I can express well comparatively.

Tabbassum Bhai seems right at his place. I believe such type of phenomenon exists. I reckon that he had been able to better express the essay "Islam vs. West". Thus he made an exception + better expression. Excellent Job, Tabbassum!

I pray you get a distinction in the marking phase.

hello,dear friends,
in the above paper ,clearly i would attemp question one or two .the main reason behind it is that it is the most simple and the most difficult and the most technical and the most important these are related to sociology and economics ,my subject.

Here i would like to tell all the collegues to write on these topics,so that we can share our views for a better result.

Clearly every one can write on these topics,so let us start that.

In my view writting on the first topic, initially we should define what is a poverty world wide.what the scholers said about it ,is it a menace or is it a necessory for todays world.

in the other instance what may be the helpful strategies in this regard.for example
01-spreading literacy
02-awarness among the masses
03-right uses of natural resources
04-industrialization
05-basic facilities like
06-access to the market
07-right and strong banking system
08-technical education
09-science and technology
10-to promote agrarian economies
11-promoting non governmental organization
12-adult education like para leka punjab, and roshni schools as in bhutto regime

any one who can write on these hends?
waiting for soonest reply from all friends,
ismail khan

Poverty Alleviatoin -outline furthering the notion by ismail

AoA

dear ismail, at the moment i wil only try to give out a rough idea

1- Introduction
a) defination of poverty, the u.n. minimum ratio of poverty
b) minimum poverty line in pakistan
c) percentage of poor people in country and increasing ratio

2- causes
a) major causes of increase in poverty
i) population boom
ii) unemployment
iii) low agricultural production
iv) high inflation ratio
v) negiligence by the govt
b) minor causes
i) bad system of zakat/bait ul maal utilization
ii) apathy of rich towards poor
iii) rural to urban influx

3- remedies/poverty alleviation
a) decline in population ratio
b) employment facilities
c) agricultural productivity should be increased
i) extension methods
ii) agro/social forestry should be adopted
iii)marketing facilities for the crop productions in far flung areas
iv)poor farmers be saved from clutches of middlemen /entrepreneurs

ur all points can be adjusted here

d) incline in literacy level and professional education be promoted
i) technical education
ii) science and technology
iii) adult education like para leka punjab, and roshni schools as in bhutto regime

(dear perha likha punjab idea is also been implemented by the current government)

e) exploitatoin of natural resources
f) industrialization
g) provision of basic amenities like water, natural gas, electricity etc.
h) good banking pattern/system

i) promoting non governmental organization
j) awarness among the masses

4- own view point
a) public sector should work in cooperation with private sector and masses be included in all plannings/implementations etc.
b) missionary zeal and zest is need of the day

5- Conclusion
---------

perhaps the above outline is workable, ideas/suggestions/comments/views/oppossitions all are welcome

Ismail Monday, August 22, 2005 06:12 PM

thank you,
tabassum,
for giving my points a descipline and adding some of yours,i m thankful to you.
here i would like to further strengthen the research on poverty alleviation worldwide.

POVERTY

I have seen most of the people very hungry, they see God in their bread.-----by Mahathma ghandi.....

poverty is one of the main problems of this computer world. first as you said we have to clearly define what is a poverty.then the indicators and parameters ,we use to define and draw the data about poverty.

in remedies i would like to add some more points.

01-by conducting seminars and making delegates around the world to come and discuss the issue.
02-UNO can play a better role by forcing rich countries to donate more to poverty.
03-by making employement oppotunities in rich countries not on race, religion ,country or color.
04-to stop the aggression toward poor countries by the west.
05-for pakistan, making the country more export oriented,so that to promote the local industry.
06-every individual can play a role by using home-made articles.
07-by sighning contracts with other countries for free-trade zone.
08-by stoping smugling in all its forms.
09-a more democratic govt than dictatorship.
10-making obsolete old costoms, thrown in to the basket, like jahiz and many more.
11-more schlorships for poor students.
12-secetarianism
13-terrorism
14-tourism developement
15-privatization
and many more

critisism makes me perfect.

Muhammad T S Awan Monday, August 22, 2005 11:31 PM

AoA

Dear ismail, yes u r right that i disciplined ur idea by emplacing them in a systematic manner. As i stated, ''i wil only try to give out a rough idea''

May Allah bless you for ur furthering the issue.

Please one correction, better to replace 'a poverty' with 'the poverty' or simply 'poverty'

One more thing, the examiner would be most concerned with the poverty alleviation in Pakistan.

It is better to quote sayings of notables as u did above. Though i did'nt quote any, as i m not well versant with the sayings, i suppose.

dear accordingly u can adjust easily the sequence of points making the essay more Pakistanized.

Adil Memon Friday, September 09, 2005 01:23 AM

The root cause in my opinion is "injustice".

Though everything has been mentioned. THE ONE strategy in my opinion is shifting the tax burden.

Pakistan has a very flawed mechanism of taxing directly and indirectly. Poor are worst affected rather than the rich people.

The tax system reduces the poor into a pauper.

(Its really strange that ACs, TVs, Cars, Computers etc. that are used by the rich get cheaper day by day but flour, sugar, vegetables, meat etc. get expensive day by day and affect the poor more adversely)

In my opinion Govt. should charge exorbitant taxes on the stuff that are solely used by the rich people. Raising the taxes from 100-200% would be a good idea.

This will help collecting a lot of money into the national treasury. Then the Govt. needs to play the role of good governance and distribute the wealth into the masses to reduce the equalities.

Plutocracy should be extirpated and equality should be sustained.

Regards,
Adil Memon

I have my essay on Poverty Alleviation on this forum. People can check it to learn from my limited knowledge.

Muhammad T S Awan Friday, September 09, 2005 10:06 AM

AoA

dear ACs, TVs, Cars, Computers etc. are not only being utilized by the rich, though rich use ACs and Cars in huge number

actually istead of raising the tax on the commodities/products used by rich upto 100-200 %, the system of taxing should be made correct, lets say 'if the tax levied on various products, at present day percentage, is received than the national treasurery would gain a lot', however, if need arise the tax can be increased upto 30-50 %

the indirect taxes are paid by all and sundray (better to say is recieved from all and sundry by government), however, the ration for direct taxes is very low, because either people do not give tax or the officials get bribe for lowering the tax amount

i do remember a market in faizabad, murree road, rawalpindi, whereby the tax officials collect money from the shop owners and out of which very less is sent in the government treasurery

and i can remember another moment, perhaps eight or nine years back when friend of my elder brother told that he is paying more tax than the then prime minister of Pakistan !, and he was a government gazetted officer ???

similarly, many persons are involved in pilferage of water, stealing of electricity from WAPDA poles etc.

so, in addition to other options, tax system should also be improved ...

Adil Memon Friday, September 09, 2005 10:47 AM

Salaam Brother,

Thanks for dissenting...

My point was to allude to all the luxury items that are used by the rich people only. See, a poor never buys the latest 21"+ colour TV. A poor never buys a Toyota Saloon. A poor will never buy the latest P4 3.2GHz+ (on HT Tech). Charging such items with something like 100% (if not 200%) tax will boost the treasury and suck the money from the bank balances of the rich. The rich peple cant live without luxury and we need to tax everything that they buy.

(You are a good guy and I guess you understand that all the problems of Pakistan will be solved once the disparities between rich and poor are removed. My strategy (don't know either its logical or not) will accomplish things pretty soon. Once the equality is attained, Pakistan will fly)

I truly understand your direct and indirect taxing strategy. Infact thats what I keep reading in the newspaper. I presented my own ideas because everybody knows whats written in the newspapers. ;)

I have tried to present something new apart from CONVENTIONAL IDEAS.

Regards,
Adil Memon

PS: Efficient is a must for my strategy as well (otherwise it will just fail like the present one).
