THE 1 Sunday, May 28, 2006 04:34 AM

apparently the thread starter wanted us to discuss the topics...Pardon my dry humor Ladies n Gentlemen.... heres what comes to my mind instantly:

1- Truth, short in Supply.
( Media can't earn enough if they start spreading the truth. Besides, A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.... so according to this Universal Truth, Truth holds no significance )

2- Liberalism (Musharraf has lost weight and his hair's gone all white since the day he started preachin this, but this backward nation of his is still stuck deciding whether 2 & 2 make four or should they call it Twenty two.)

3- Humor in Urdu Literature (Can't think of others except for Ibn-e-Insha, Deputy Nazeer Ahmad and the well known "Mulla Naseeruddin kay lataa'if"... guess other members can shed some light in this area, cuz i'm kinda shorta' info)

4- Foreign Direct investment in PK (The influx of Pakistanis previously settled abroad plays the pivotal role.... they brought in their businesses along or managed to convince their previous employers that offshored business cud earn them huge bucks.... besides, the "Foreign Policy" of our beloved govt. has somewhat proved effective too...)

5- Personalization of Pakistani Politics ( When Personal interests take over National Interests - When Politicians see no way out, they portray personal interests as National ones.... just as in the case of Dams... several other examples...)

6- Global Warming ( No, i haven't had a detailed study of Evday Science as yet.... but the OZONE DESTRUCTION FACTOR might prove to be worth mentioning...)

7- Nukes, Not a great Peril, but A Great Hope. (yep, the last hope of our army that guarantees an "India nuke-attack-proof Pakistan" .... ... I don't see how Nukes could be a great hope except that they're either to be used or left to rot... Pakistan has simply no use of keeping'em, but disposin'em ain't possible either, the man behind the scene, has been put behind bars... and the rest of his team is clueless without him.
nah, just kidding, if some1 wrote this they're gonna be spanked ;) .... )

8- Brains, like hearts, Go where they're appreciated (I guess discussing the outflow of talent from Pakistan to western nations where the talent is both appreciated and put to the right use can be discussed here.....however, in this one, facts and figures would add to the score big time)

9- Lotsa folks confuse ..... (Here I'd mention the example of the Chinese nation, they got good rulers and a literally "drunk" nation turned out to be one of the leading nations in the world within 5 decades, whereas our "politically, religiously and several other-ly" nation which has been gifted with every natural resource remains a backward nation .... its poor management, not bad destiny that has kept us laggin behind in all our prospects --- and finally our ppl have started saying "Pakistan ko nazar laggayee, Pakistan kee badnaseebi hai .... such superstitious ppl, won't work hard and will easily blame Providence for all that goes wrong!
Nevertheless, v're here to set new trends... Wake up PAKiSTAN!)

10- There comes a time to put aside principles and do what's right
Simply rephrase it: "There comes a time to put aside Army rulers and let the Bureaucrats rule! "

enough for tonight, finally i feel sleepy!

GoodKnight!

· Nuclear Waepons Are 'not Only A Great Peril, But A Great Hope'

· Brain storming.:?

· Today nuclear weapons are considered to be the deterent against the rival countries.

· It has been widely believed that one country can survive against the hegemony of others through the accqusition of nuclear weapons.

· India has continued its nukes progamme on the pretext of china’s nuclear capability.

· Pakistan has accquired its nuclear programme, out of fear, of indian hegemony in the region.

· Iran has been acceding towards the nuclear capability in order to outsted the Israeli hegemony in the Middle east.

· Geo-political conditions of the countries that compel them to achieve the nukes programme in order to balance the power in their regions, with special reference to South Asia.

· On one hand nukes programme is conidered to be the blessing in disguise, on the other hand it is a agreat peril, too.

· Heroshima and nagasaki of japan are the live examples of nuclear arm’s victims

· In South Asia Kashmir is the only nuclear flash point that can erupt nuclear war at any time.

· Hegemonic role of countries which posses the nuclear weapons.

· US hegemonic role and pre-emptive strikes against Afghanistan and Iraq and now Iran.

· Russia’s Hegmonic role before 1979 and now after green revolution.

· Israel’s Role in aggrasive role in middle east .

· India’s is hegemoinc role in south asia.

· In order to curb the proliferation of nukes programme to rouge nations and terriorists NPT has been enforced since 1970.

· NPT has allowed the nations to acquire the nuclear programme for peaceful purpose and it denounces the nukes programme related to weapons.

· It also states that the big five members of nuclear club will reduce the weapons and time will arrive when universal nuclear disarmment will be achieved.

· It is a need of the hour to enforce the NPT with its full letter and spirit.

 all suggestions are invited and criticizm will b highly appriciated :nono , but plzz notify my mistakes so that i can improve myself.

hiii...i attempted personalisation of pakistan politics....i started with describing the term politics n then the whole of it...then i gave a brief sketch of pak political history from quaid's use of power to dislodge CM to MUshi...i ended that with a question as to why democrats as similiar to military dictat too shed off their cloak of demo within no time....then i posted some reasons for personalisation of pp like feudalis religion poverty etc ...then i gave a brief sketch of local body syst 2001 and its failure ...finally some solutions to bless pak with true democracy....i dont think so i did well ..it was a rather poor attempt ...

i attempted the last topic " every solution breeds new problems"

I gave it a political and economic touch.

in poitics, i wrote about man's need for a state. when he founded a state, the problem of a governmental system arose. he could not take monarchy because it vested too much powers in one person. democracy, on the other hand, led to the rule of the incompetent and the tyranny of the majority.
in economics capitalism leads to classes and inflation. communism had its own peculiar problems.

that is how i argued about it.

i attempted "Nuclear weapons are not only great peril but a great hope..."

i discussed it from the beginning...second world war, korean war, how China was thwarted from meddling in korean war, the success of Domino theory regarding containing communism in south east asia,.....then moved on to cold war, why cold war turned cold,.......the role of two super powers, the effects of nukes on economy, soldiering, environment, morality, what islam says abt warfare,(islam doesnt condone the use of fire in the battlefield bcoz the nukes doesnt discriminate b/w civilians and combatants, humans or other creatures, etc etc.......after that......i discussed it in backdrop of contemporary world scenario.....how Iranian Mullahs became convinced of their vulnerability after Iraq was invaded and North Korea owing to their nuclear potential was left unscathed, moreover they were forced into diplomatic talks......and finally flocking back to South Asian nuclear politics......how pakistani nukes have kept indian designs of converging on pakistan at bay.............and then the conclusion.....

anyway,......u all pray for common success.....as we are earnestly supplicating to Him for our victorious get through..

Bhai Sahib, 'such' choonkay karrwa hota hai iss liey no one likes it. So truth has limited demand and therefore 'short supply'.

If anyone chooses this topic and then tries to write all the true things .... most probably that person shall be fail in essay exam.

Your question has two possible answers....

Pehla would be true answer and doosra would be fallacious.

And I am not going to give any true answer because 'truth is in short supply'.

False answer would be something like this ..... chalo rehne do.... you know jhoot nahi bolna chayiye....;) :pp

A Divine Help????

Well my part of the story regarding Essay paper is bit strange.
On the night separating 26.5.2006 and May, 27th I could not sleep properly owing to the tension of the hectic day ahead ( I had to go to Islamabad from Attock). I woke up at 2:45 a.m., offered my Tahajjad prayer, switched on the computer, connected to net, opened wikipedia and without any prior intention whatsoever, I specifically searched the topic…………..”GLOBAL WARMING”.
I don’t know whether it was an intuition or what, but it proved good for me.
I knew much about Global Warming, but not enough to dwell upon the topic for 100 marks. However the internet provided me with loads of very specific, technical and important information. And it’s because of my use of internet that particular morning, that I had much material regarding the topic. I didn’t have to beat about the bush and wrote on it very specifically and accurately.
I started with a quotation, and then gave a brief description of the issue.
The I mentioned what are the effects of global warming (immediate and long term effects e.g disturbance in the thermohaline circulation etc etc etc ).
Next came the various threats of global warming (again immediate and long term threats).
I also mentioned few positives of the issue.
Next step was to identify the factors which contribute to the global warming (green house effect, CFC gases, Ozone depletion, natural sources etc).
It was also pertinent to identify the major culprits (the industrialized countries, according to the level of their contribution).
And to cap it all up, I suggested the measures to stem the slide (umpteen suggestions can be given).
In the end I mentioned the global concern over the issue, described this issue in the historical backdrop up to the Kyoto Protocol.
And then ended the discussion with optimism.
I won’t claim that I did marvelous job, but I think it was a reasonably good attempt. I attempted whole heartedly, and I leave the rest to ALLAH Almighty.
And I wish all of you, very best of luck.

AoA

hmmmm......................

essay paper was a bit different. However, i wrote on 'Global Warming' bcoz it best suited me.

first of all i made an outline at the end page of answer sheet, then i transformed it and wrote on first page, the main essay followed the outline.

the outline was:

- Introduction
- problems associated with the global warming
- factors causing global warming
- measures to check the global warming
- conclusion

i also added some sub-points to fore-mentioned main points in the outline
