(b) Rewrite One of the following passages, converting what is in direct speech into indirect, and what is in indirect speech into direct. (05)
(i) Just as we came inside of the valley Jamil met us,--“yes, the valley is all very fine, but do you know there is nothing to eat?” “Nonsense; we can eat anything here.” “Well, the brown bread’s two months old, and there’s nothing else but potatoes.” “There must be milk anyhow.” “Yes, there was milk, he supposed.” (ii) Miss Andleeb said she thought English food was lovely, and that she was preparing a questionnaire to be circulated to the students of the university, with the view to finding out their eating preferences. “But the students won’t fill a questionnaire,” said Miriam. “Won’t fill up questionnaire?” cried Miss Andleeb, taken aback. “No”, said Miriam, “they won’t. As a nation we are not, questionnaire-conscious.” “Well, that’s too bad,” said Miss Andaleeb. CSP and SENIOR MEMBERS please solve this question[/QUOTE] |

Title: War an Abomination and Destruction of Civilizations The writer has concluded that only war is the ultimate cause of breaking down of civilizations; war is not bearable until one may find a way out. In early stages war make more destruction's as compare to its benefits. In present times fighting war for states is an option even for loosing state. The abomination of war’s invisible until the powerful state exploit natural and economic benefits from it, but therefore even God of war takes lives and happiness. The society reaches its peak and it transforms its power to militarization and war became a cancer that feed on healthy tissues and destroy them. Prior serious efforts were made to avoid wars to save societies; which leaves two options, first is individually as human being, other is peace keeping strategies by states, the prior is not to take part in any war against any human or state as individual and the second option is governments join hands to avoid conflicts, the second option is more effective.
