I chose topic no. 9: Hurdles to being independent

1) Introduction
(a) The meaning of Independence/Sovereignty
(b) The sovereign states of the world
(c) The Third World and Pakistan

2) Hurdles
(a) Illiteracy, lack of awareness, "sheep" mentality.
(b) Weak economy - interdependence, neocolonialism.
(c) Disunity, nationalist sentiments, political instability.
(d) Opportunism, self-serving politicians and people. Brain drain.
(e) Lack of freedom for citizens results in an oppressed state.

3) Solutions
(a) Introducing rural education to most backward areas, improving overall quality.
(b) Aim for self-sufficiency, land reform, nurture growth.
(c) Promote national ideology,
(d) Promotion of human rights, curbing of power of establishment.

It was something like this. I think it was average at best. I could've written a lot better but I felt so tired after the half-way mark! =(

I did a major blunder by allocating 45 minutes to outline; Yes 45 mins! Therefore due to lack of time I could only write 2200 words. This however has been a very humbling and interesting experience. Hopefully I would do better in next papers
