Poverty
According to Multidimensional Poverty Index MPI; an instrument used to estimate poverty from multidimensions such as Education, Health and Living Standard, unlike Income and Wealth alone. It is also important to be used in budgeting, resource allocation and policy making. MPI indicates 39% poverty in Pakistan which has reduced from 55% in 2004. There is disparity in rural areas it is higher 54.6% as compared to urban areas 9.3%, in the same way region wise FATA is worst hit 73%, followed by Baluchistan 71%, KP 49%, GB & Sindh 43%, Punjab 31% and AJK the least affected has 25% rate. There is disparity in indicators too deprivation in education is 43% followed by living standard 31% and health 26%.
It should be note that International measurement of poverty is $2. It means a person earning less than two dollars a day is considered to be the below poverty line.
