Kashmir Issue

Recent setback for Pakistan in face of failure in filing any resolution on the Kashmir issue at the ongoing UN Human’s Rights Council meeting is yet another manifestation of where Pakistan is positioned currently in the global corridors of powers.Such “setback(s)”,as they call it,were always on the wall.

The holding of Kashmir meeting at the UNSC after 5 decades was, without any second thought,a “big achievment.”However, frankly asking, did it help in anyway to restrict India from carrying on its chauvinistic, attrocious policy in Kashmir? Will mere statements work?Unfortunatelty,Pakistan’s weakening economy, decreasing market demand, internal rifts, failure to mobilise and involve the international community in meaningful trade, diplomatic or political ties and the response of its “all-seasons” allies ,i.e.,mere statements and nothing concrete,is all that is to be blamed for Pakistan’s current position and power to act decisively on this matter.

Contrarily, given its growing consumer market and it strong defence, military and trade ties with powerful countries like the United States and the reliance of important Gulf countries for their oil trade, labour pool, investment needs ,etc.,India’s current position to steer the affairs according to its will is much better than that of Pakistan in such conflicts.Morever,US President Donald Trump accompanying Narendra Modi at the “Howdy,Modi” event wherby the latter will address Indian diaspora and the conferment of the Sheikh Zayed medal, the highest civilian award,by the UAE on PM Modi are just the fresh examples of how diplomatically successful India in pursuing its foreign policy objectives.

Summing it up,the plight of the Kashmiri people is massive..Undoubtedly,the actions of India must be condemned and it must be pushed closer to
obligations of the implementation of UN resolutions under its charter and international law persistently. For this to happen, the UN ,its various organs like the UNHCR,human rights groups, and humanitarain and right activits all across the globe must consistently gear-up and produce efforts to make the world abreast of the situation the Kashmiris are currently mired in at.Nonetheless, from now on,the fate of the valley ,as per the recent scenario, will always lie in the hands of the Kashmiris themselves. That said the nature of their protest and sacrifice,in my opinion, would decide their future status.Lastly, as far as Pakistan and its meaningful helpfulness for Kashmirs is concerned,I would keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best...
