Advancing the clock by one hour for power conservation

ADVANCING THE CLOCK BY ONE HOUR FOR POWER CONSERVATION

Policy makers forget to realize the fact that advancing the clock for one hour is to avail the sun light for more working. More working means more power consumption. It does not save the energy but increase its consumption.

It is worth mentioning that none of the South Asian countries including China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other far eastern countries has adopted this practice. Our immediate neighbor India had adopted it previously but abandoned it after twelve days working due to its faults than any benefit to the country. In our case it is highly ridiculous that India which is located in the east with early sun rise becomes half hour behind summer and half hour ahead in winter as per Pakistan Standard Time without any change of its geographical location.

COUNTRY PUSH BACK THOUSAND YEARS BACK

By advancing the clock by one hour, in fact the country is pushed thousand years back. The nation is consigned into fools paradise.

please discuss

Day Light Saving System (DSM) is not a novel idea. Introduced in 1885 by a New Zeeland Entomologist, it is being practiced in several countries across the globe including entire Europe, and selective countries in other continents (Bangladesh ,Kazakhstan and Jordan etc in Asia). Some countries such as China and India has abandoned this practice while few others such as Japan and Philippine are considering to adopt this rule. There are few countries of North America who have advanced their clocks permanently for duration of an hour.

The rationale behind this practice is extra use of day light to save electricity. It bears both positive as well as negative impacts but declaring it nonsense altogether is unjust. It causes confusion amongst the masses and this the biggest draw back but it also save energy and bring monetary benefits. This issue may be discussed in the light of facts and figures but not only for the sake of criticism on Govt.

Govt decisions do not bring desired results always . However these must be rational, logical and above all taken in good faith. Some of decisions cannot achieve desired results and even few of them are proved harmful because no one has control over the future. This is being done all over the world .Legislation is promulgated by the parliaments but amended or repealed afterwards on not getting the desired results. Bhutto Sahib introduced Socialism and nationalized all the major industries. He had been voted to power on this slogan so he implemented this decision with public mandate. Afterwards it proved unsuccessful and we reverted back to capitalism. Even leading socialist states such as china are moving towards Market economy.

Obviously there is no vested interest of the Govt in this regard. I have not seen any allegation of corruption on Zardari Sb for introducing Day Light saving System yet, but it will not be a surprise for me if some media personal link it to mallafide intention of President. We are idealists and want angels to rule here but at the same time allow dictators to ruin the entire nation. However Political leaders must be flawless and rumors spread by unbridled media are sufficient proof to declare them guilty and corrupt

Another joke with the poor citizens of the nation... the school going childern and their mothers, working women and every body who has to reach to office at 8 etc are facing great problems because of this novel idea of increasing the practice for one more month... hail to government.!

apparently they are making one issue thn the other issue so that people remain buzy in their own issues instead of thinking or protesting on pooooooor performance of the government.

It is sometime painfull when one peeps into this cat and mouse game intiated by the current government. The policy makers have acheived very little. Still the recurring loadshedding problem. The switching mode of time are just mere an answer to the crocodile tears which the government is shedding. It seems they are least concernced with the longlasting solution of the persistent energy crisis.

How long this saga will continues is yet to be answered. But it is very evident that the ticking of hour will tickle the massess till any formidable way out is formulated.

I partyly agree with Tabassum on a point that government has succeeded in keeping innocent nation busy in petty issues. But on the part of DST implementation, in my opinion it has contributed to decrease power crisis(although very little).
If our political elite is really serious to curb the menace of power crisis then it must use the power generation capacity to its maximum with real good intentions.
